Multiple sources are reporting that LSU starting defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin is opting out of the upcoming football season. The redshirt junior from Lafayette, La is eligible for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Shelvin is the fourth LSU player to opt-out joining defensive lineman Neil Farrell, defensive back Kary Vincent, and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.

Shelvin you are a bad combine away from going Undrafted. I am not sure what you think you are protecting by opting out. A 6th round draft grade?

Gonna be protecting his star role on the show My 600 Pound Life without working out with the team

Chase makes sense as he's proven himself to the league. Shevlin has not. A 350+ pound guy is NOT going to impress much. Mistake. He needed to get in the 330 range. He won't by not playing, by not being in the structure of the program. He'll be 400 soon. Mistake.

I’m opting out too. Saving the $10,000 I spend a season traveling to see all the games.

They might as well throw in the towel. These guys don’t want to play anymore.

Probably could not get his weight down and get back into playing shape. Wonder if will still have a team or a JV squad competing in the sec this season

He was draft eligible this year. Doesn’t make much sense to come back, then opt out.

Damn! I love the "next man up" philosophy, but at some point, the next man up is a walk-on or different position player. Best wishes to the big man, but I really wanted to see him wreck shite this year.

Wonder what agent are forking cash out and giving advise. Poor decision for him. He needs the structure of the team and to develop his talent more. All things equal i am drafting the guy that stuck with his team. Says a lot for a none top 10 pick.

Opting out to go in the 5th or 6th round of the draft. Nice decision.
