Longtime LSU defensive back coach and top recruiter Corey Raymond is expected the join Billy Napier's staff at Florida as "assistant head coach of the defense/cornerbacks coach," according to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

Raymond, a New Iberia native, played cornerback at LSU from 1987-1991 and has been the defensive back coach at LSU since 2012. He added the title of Recruiting Coordinator in March of 2020.

He’s leaving because we have Wilson back. Am I the only one who finds it funny that the flagship university in Florida is building its recruiting strategy around Louisiana talent?

Lol, this true. Florida is loaded with talent. Maybe they just can’t keep them in state anymore.

He has been flirting with leaving for years. He’s had multiple players quit on him! LSU will be fine! You ain’t with us you against us!

Yup. Recruiting coordinator since 2020. Lots of highly rated yet soft and not committed to LSU football. It was time for a change. Change is difficult but BK doing the right thing.

Everyone crying about Raymond leaving have forgotten Frank Wilson is on the staff now......

Frank Wilson is the best recruiter LSU has ever had. He convinced Miles to offer Honey Badger when no one wanted him.

Dawson, do you have any idea who Wilson is? Do you have any clue who’s he recruited?

I’ll let you guys in on a little secret: our DBs were better before he got here. Too many divas last couple years in the CB room. Frank will handle recruiting, Raymond can go enjoy Gainesville and Billy Bob Napier. LSU will whoop his arse once a year.

Billy Bob is the AD. Napier is the Good Ole boy.

Some of these posters on Tigerdroppings are ULL (Not UL) fans. Fuk ULL and Napiers little league ass. In the past season Billy Boy got destroyed by a terrible Texas team. Then he beat friggin’ Nichols by 3 points. He beat South Alabama by 2 points. He beat a pitiful Arkansas State team by 1 point. Yet to the ULL lovers out there Napier was Super-Duper. Thank God we hired a proven head coach and not some flavor of the month like Napier.

Change probably needed for both Cory and LSU. He may have wanted DC job? But he can be replaced easier than most think!

Does Kelly keep Daronte? Baker? And Andre ?

Lowes: BK keeps whoever the frick he decides to keep based on first and foremost, a coach that is in sync with him, someone he can trust, and someone who is loyal. These 'keyboard cowboys' that are melting like an ole piss pussy have no experience in corporate America or coaching to understand the process of when a new CEO takes over a corporation.....GEAUX TIGERS!

Why don’t we just make him “King of the Defense”. He’s already the highest paid cornerbacks coach with unheard of job security. Let’s just make him a King. Or Archduke, or something.

Jeez, these comments. No dispute that Corey is a good coach and pretty good recruiter. But if he's at UF, we move on. This program moving in a really good direction with or without him.

Agreed.....Most of these posters have never worked in a major corporation when a new CEO takes over. This is very common ground.

This likely had something to do with Frank Wilson coming back and being RC. But the loss of a title can be made up with more straight up money which LSU hasn't been reluctant to spend, so something else went on too.

Can we just make up the title “assistant head coach of the defense” too?

Better yet “head coach of the cornerbacks”

I would have had a much bigger problem with this before Frank Wilson was back on board to recruit.
