Former LSU quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. made his debut for East Mississippi Community College on Thursday night, leading his team to a 47-34 win over Jones County Junior College.

Scott reportedly threw for 535 yards with five touchdowns. Per The Meridian Star:
quote:

“You definitely have to get back in the groove of things since it’s been a while since I’ve played a football game live, and I’ve learned a lot of things on my journey to this field,” Scott Jr. said. “But it feels really good to get back on the field. I told someone else it’s like Christmas morning — I get to wake up and play football. All glory to God. This is really exciting.”

I just saw Lindsey on Sports Center and couldn't be happier for him! A great kid with a winning attitude! I hope he has a great season. He's already off to a good start!

all eyes on etling against an overmatched BYU defense. He should put up decent numbers.....at least 200 passing yards.

And he threw the TD pass to Kirk Merritt. Talk about an odd situation of events.

Opportunity is an amazing thing. Glad he took advantage of it and had a great debut.

Got faith that this young man will land another Power 5 spot after this season. He has the tools and brains to get it done. I get that we can't play 4 QB's at one time and someone had to be the odd man out. Stuck between a Senior and 2 dynamic true freshman. Hard to argue for him to start unless DE lays an egg in the first few games.

Question remains. Was he given a legitimate shot and the QB spot based on talent alone, or did politics run him off?

Not a question any more. We got our QB of the future, and Scott made a move that was probably better for him.

this kid had a chance to get a harvard education 2 years ago...and now he's at a juco? Where are his priorities?
user avatar
RightHook80 months
i've wondered about this too. the nfl finds talent. if he did well at harvard, he'd get a shot at the nfl.

It could be that he's been groomed to do what he does, and so happens to be extremely intelligent. But its clear where his priorities are.

I think the kid was groomed to do what he does. Comes from money, and a lot of smart people directing him.

I think there were 4 TD passes. Beautiful tear drop in the corner of the endzone in 1st quarter

Good for him. And after seeing him play it ought to make you feel better about our qb situation considering there were several guys ahead of him

Hopefully after one year there, he transfers to Harvard and wrecks the Ivy before going pro.

I wouldn't be shocked if this kid becomes another Russell Wilson. Sometimes if life you just need people to believe in you and give you a chance.

fm33 this guy learned a new offense in 2 weeks, throws for 400+ yards and 4 touchdowns and you choose to shite on it? WOW! Did you sst the same abiut Mett's accomplishment in JC? I dont recall anyone downplaying his stats which were cited as proof we were getting a great QB.

I hope no one actually believes this. Really shows how dumb the LSU fan base really is.

What could have been? They kid is throwing in the JUCO leagues. That's like saying that if I can absolutely run over my kids peewee football league I should be in the NFL.
