ESPN released their SEC preseason power rankings on Monday and pegged LSU at No. 7. Here's what they had to say about the Tigers heading into the 2018 season.
quote:

7. LSU

If we're handing out superlatives and "wild card" is already taken, then maybe we ought to call LSU the biggest question mark in the SEC. Really, what are we to make of the Tigers? The offense, despite the addition of quarterback Joe Burrow, doesn't appear poised to break out of what feels like a decadelong slump. And while the defense has two legitimate stars in Greedy Williams and Devin White, it will have to replace half of its starters from last season, including fixtures Arden Key and Christian LaCouture. The talent is always there in Baton Rouge, but maybe not the expectations this season.
Complete Preseason Power Rankings:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Auburn
4. Mississippi State
5. Florida
6. South Carolina
7. LSU
8. Texas A&M
9. Kentucky
10. Missouri
11. Ole Miss
12. Tennessee
13. Vanderbilt
14. Arkansas

Granted Miss. St. beat LSU last year badly, but historically and this century LSU has been better than the 3 teams ranked 4-6. LSU's record vs. these 3 are: LSU 73-35 all time vs. State & 16-2 "this century" LSU 18-2-1 all time dominates USC & 6-0 "this century" UF leads 32-29-3 vs UF but LSU leads 10-8 this century including LSU winning 6 of the last 8 games so 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. C'mon man?? Only USC has a coach there longer than Coach O and neither team has more talent. This ESPN ranking is a joke!

Mississippi St., Florida and South Carolina all in front of us, REALLY? Now that's hilarious and as far as Auburn and Georgia goes we always play Auburn tight and usually beat them and Georgia lost more from last years team then we did and we have them at home. I think with LSU new offensive identity and please, hopefully better QB play we're going to catch a lot of people off guard and be able to move the ball and score. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN ??????????

Having Florida and Miss State ahead of us shows just how very little they know. Ridiculous.

If it wasn't for the schedule, everyone would have us 4 or 5 at worst.

Replacing Christian Lacouture with Breiden Fehoko and Arden Key with K'lavon Chiasson may very well be an upgrade. Typical ESPN with the crappy reporting.
