John Emery Jr.'s status for the McNeese State game on Saturday is still unknown as the junior running back has not been cleared academically to play, Ed Orgeron said Thursday after practice.

Orgeron said that Emery Jr. has practiced all week and if he is cleared before kickoff then he will definitely play on Saturday.

Orgeron added that freshmen running back Corey Kiner and Armoni Goodwin will get some snaps vs. McNeese.

Tre Bradford, who just transferred back to LSU from Oklahoma this week, has practiced with the team this week but will probably not be eligible to play just yet, according to Orgeron.

How in the frick d ok you have so many missing players going into that frst game. Missing players everywhere. Injuries happen but part of that goes on the fuking coaches!

How do u get academic ineligible all of a sudden when school just started? Any summer classes would have already had a grade

What a waste, we need to stop recruiting these guys that have difficulty passing simple classes. I am sure he's not taking advanced Trig. Waste of a spot and time. Hope the young man gets it together but need to move on with him and Davis. Put the freshmen in and show them how to enter the portal.

Is there a RB that can run and catch on the LSU Roster? Clyde caught like 5-7 balls during every game. This is how you get a RTB past a defense line. WHY did we quit throwing to our RBs???????????

Situation: Not good.

Unfortunately, a RB is only as good as his OL

Fortunately we don’t have to rely on Ty Davis Price with his patented “Hesitation Move” this week.

The OL wasn't that bad actually the holes were there. Price just did too much dancing around in the backfield. He has poor run vision and he can't explode in hole fast enough. Several times I watched him run away from the hole. It is like he was scared of getting hit.

If u think the LSU O-Line “wasn’t that bad actually” against UCLA then you were watching the wrong contest OR you’re about 90% fukn blind in both eyes!

Is confusion a sign of chaos?

Running backs are not needed for McNeese, they were for UCLA.

Running backs are needed all season long every game for LSU this season, Lsu is horrible this season. I can't tell the difference between last season to this season.

No one can tell the difference after only one game, Lowes. We will all know more, in a couple of weeks....

Did Coach O say why Kiner did not get carries in the UCLA game. All I care about.

Let me add this while we are on RBs. It is unfortunate, but I think that Emery and TDP are both swing and misses. They simply aren't as good as advertised. They both have had ample opportunity to impress and make a mark and they have not. Time to move on. Can't get much worse than last week.

When did Emery get ample opportunity?

The last 30 years of my life I thought LSU would never have a problem at RB. Then the spread came along and made that easier. Yet here we are, LSU has problems at RB.

Both Emory and TDP are busts. Plain and simple.

If he is going into his 3rd year at LSU and has grade problems he is probably not trying very hard and will be gone

I have never been more unimpressed with an LSU running back than I was on Saturday night

Totally agree. While the OL had a terrible game, Davis-Price once again did virtually nothing. He hesitates and sometime stops if the hole isn’t exactly where he thinks it should be. He is in reality a Fullback playing running back. No moves. Slow. Plodding. Not a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. But, he can block.

wesman2132 months
Yet we never tried running Kiner, who is apparently quick and decisive. Lot of poor effort and poor decisions by coaches and players. Not giving Kiner some snaps was the worst in my opinion.

And the staff insist on using him for goal line/short yardage, where he sucks the most. It drives me nuts!
