There have been a lot of rumors over the last 24 hours about Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley being linked to the LSU job.

Earlier on Wednesday, Jake Crane Of 'The JBoy Show' reported that Riley was offered an 8-year $96 million contract to replace Ed Orgeron in Baton Rouge, according to his sources.

Later in the evening, National College Football reporter Bruce Feldman sent out a tweet saying that Riley was not going anywhere.

Bruce said "Riley isn't leaving", but what does Lincoln Riley say?

Well over half of these reports are agent driven to hold the current school the coach works for hostage and get a raise.

If it's not Aranda or Napier, I'll be butthurt for at least a couple of days.

I think we are down to Napier. Hopefully he’s still available and interested. If not, I guess we promote the water boy.

All these talks about a specific coach not going to LSU is BS and most likely is done by coaches agents. For example how do you know that Jimbo Fisher was even offered the LSU job? He comes out and says he is not leaving to play "hard to get" game.

Exactly. Jimbo burned his LSU bridge when Jimmy Sexton tried to get more money after an agreement was reached. LSU’s boosters did not like it and said no. Then Miles was retained for what turned out to be 4 more games. Then Orgeron got the job.

I don’t see Riley coming to LSU for any amount of money. He just recently made statements that were basically bashing LSU and TCU for their mid-season firings. He is 1-3 against the SEC and all 3 losses in the playoffs. Why would he come to LSU knowing he could be fired in 2 years. His job is more secure at OU since they seem to be fine with losing every year in the playoffs. Fisher doesn’t seem to be leaving as they give him extensions for losing 3 games a year, thankfully. Aranda seems to be happy where he is. All aboard the Lane Train!

“Why would he come to LSU” I could think of 96 million reasons why.

He had to watch what SEC caliber talent can do to one of his best teams. He has to be wondering what it would be like to have talent like tgat.

You might be right about Jimbo but everything else you typed is wrong. Lane Train? Yuk

No harm in offering big money. If they match it, it cost OU boosters a lot of cash...who cares. Offer Saban 20 mil a year so the Gumps match it too. This could be fun!

As it has in the past, it would have the effect of driving-up coaching salaries in general

What is Saban accepts the 20m? You think LSU would pay that?

Used it to get a raise. Bravo.

no real shock if true. Always knew OU would match whatever LSU offered. Why is Scott woodward considered this great hirer of elite coaches. He basically throws an absurd amount of money at a top coach to get them to leave. Only issue is OK could match that offer. I mean paying Ed O. 17 million tells you all you need to know about Scott Woodward.

Who says he even made Lincoln an offer? Someone called jboy? That’s your source?

Scott W didn’t negotiate Ed’s contract & his hands were tied when it WS time to fire him w/cause.

If Riley gives up 8 years 93 million and OU doest match and he stays. Then he is one Dumb SOB and I don't want him. Home many times does LSU have to destroy OU WITH HIM AS COACH.
