During the SEC Coaches Teleconference, head coach Brian Kelly revealed that cornerback Ashton Stamps is no longer on the roster.

Stamps, a junior from Harvey, La. (Rummel HS), started in all 13 games last season during his sophomore year and played in 11 games with four starts during his true freshman season in 2023.

Stamps has only appeared in three games this season and slipped down the depth chart behind sophomore PJ Woodland and DJ Pickett.

Has played three games this year. Still eligible for redshirt. Gives him 2 more years of eligibility.

Hate to see it because he’s a good player but he needs to make hay while the sun shines. It’s a smart move by him.

Did they give him enough NIL money to stay and develop more? If the answer is no, they he should take advantages of other opportunities.

At least wait until the end of the season to give up and transfer no? Maybe something else going on? We still have a whole season to finish and one of our 1s could get injured at any time

I miss back when players stuck around a depth was an actual thing

They both graduated from their other college before transferring to LSU.

I can’t blame the young man for transferring, if he had no hope of seeing the field again at LSU. Might as well go somewhere to get some playing time. I wish nothing but the best for this young man. Thanks for being a Tiger!

CBK is a jackass! This kid was a talent and he’s gone because CBK gave up on him. We’re going to feel this.

What is the situation with Jardin Gilbert?
user avatar

the situation is he is not that good at football, and thus, has been buried on the depth chart... the guy is a G5 talent on a P5 roster

Stamps getting redshirted now he off the roster. Coach Kelly meltdown going on. Hope AD does something to stabilize the program.

If his reason for leaving wasn't related to eligibility, then I hope he lands in a good spot and has success. He stepped up and was a bright spot on a historically bad defense. Good luck to him.

He had potential but was one of the last ones on defense who had the Ryan Clark 'you're a victim, you don't have to listen, you don't owe anybody anything' inflicted into them. The new blood has blown through that cancerous mentality.

Some of yall make your whole identity around this topic. What a sad life to live. It's like you didn't see Jack Bech leave after Lacy took his spot. Or that other lil white kid who was a receiver that almost never saw the field.

Don’t know much about this particular situation but I do know one thing for sure, Ryan Clark is a walking pile of human shite. An incredibly dumb one to boot

I hate to read things like this. I don't like that kids give up on the team, the program, themselves in a given situation.

So ride the bench or follow his dream?

Or, follow your dream by being a better player and going to your state school?
