This is why the Jersey #s are important. The guy wants to wear it like the playmakers that came before him. frick y'alls dumbass, played out threads about ending a tradition that's not for yall in the first place. Hope the young man earns it.

I hope he does earn it...before O fricks up the tradition by giving it to players who practice well without earning it with their game play.

TM7 did as well. Lots of very talented young men at his position have. Best of luck to Mr. Ricks, looking forward to seeing you play on Saturdays!

Please God just get it away from Giles

Just because it was a mistake for Giles doesn't mean it's now less of a tradition, move forward and don't make that same mistake.

It's really hard to see what in the holy hell they saw in Giles that even made him a potential candidate for the #7? Especially with him being a transfer and it being his 1st year at LSU. I will say that my opinion of him was greatly improved after he gave the 7 jersey up and went back to his standard number. Having the respect, awareness and humility to admit he wasn't playing up to the level required to wear the #7 showed me a lot about him as a teammate and as young man. Im sure it wasn't an easy thing to do, most kids in his position would have a 1001 excuses why it wasn't his fault and then start throwing coaches and teammates under the bus.

yes to all of this. Its a great tradition but it cant be given upon request by just anyone. If they do that then it means nothing. Ali Highsmith.....Pat Pete.....Mathieu.......and...uhhhh Giles?

Outstanding, he has a goal and knows he has to work to get it. Maybe that helps keep him committed to signing with the time comes.

After they gave it to a kid who had never played a snap at LSU and he proceeded to play like a drunk 8 year old, one would hope earning it on the field will be a prerequisite from now on.

This guy seems like the type that that will stick, a guy that doesn't change his mind every time the wind blows, could be best CB duo lsu has ever had

Hopefully #7 will be around to earn. CEO is liable to give it to the next waterboy that transfers in.

It is cool when there's a badass player rocking 7.

Delpit should wear it next year and Stingley should ‘earn it’ when he’s gone

But, but, but, wearing #7 isn't a tradition. The ranters underestimated the power of the 7.

What all y'all fail to realize is a kid from California knows the history and traditions of LSU. That makes me think this young man might stick around when signing day comes around in 2020. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN??????????

They aren't giving it to him from the start are they? They should have only done that for Fournette, and then gone back to a team vote. 7 has to be the best player, not just a good player. O is a stupid a-hole.
