Four-star LSU defensive back commit Major Burns from Baton Rouge has decommitted from the Tigers.
quote:

"I've enjoyed my time as a LSU commit, making a lot of lasting relationships along the way, but it's time to turn the page and move on to the next chapter. I am officially an uncommitted prospect."

Burns was a one-time Texas A&M commit but backed off his verbal pledge to the Aggies before committing to LSU in June. The Madison Prep Academy prospect is rated the No. 11 safety in the country for the class of 2020, according to 247 Sports.

The departure of Burns leaves LSU with 23 verbal commits for the class of 2020.

Best of luck to him. The Tigers are overflowing with talent that wants to be, and will be, in BR.

I may be in the minority here, but I would make preference for local kids who love LSU. It’s not like he’s a two star.

#11 DB? No thanks. He’s lucky we even invited him for a visit. This is DBU and we’ve got no room for a #11.

It’s slowly becoming a BAMA fan base. Spoiled fans. I’m not going to lie, I was same way. I demanded perfection. I’m glad folks like BeeFense, Choctaw, Prominent, Gray Tiger, and etc existed during the previous elite era. They always said be careful what you wish for and it’s proven to be the the truth. This year has been awesome, fun, and entertaining. However, don’t become one of those fans, it’s not healthy. Just enjoy the moment and wish for the best moving forward.

Sorry but he was purged to make room for others. I feel sorry for the kid but it’s what’s beat for the team. Besides his name is not good for a db

His statement is clear and he's being poetic. He's saying he wants to be here but it's not his decision

I was looking forward to him playing in our colors. I like what he wrote. Hope he has success.

If it’s true about LSU pulling commits for others it’s troubling. Almost all four stars. One 3 star lineman committed . ??. Don’t like these LSU games . Seems more likely these kids don’t want to compete at the highest level. Remember the DB from Scotlandville went to Kentucky because he couldn’t cut it being a backup.

How exactly does that seem “more likely?”

Can’t say he is one of them, but we are definitely advising a few of our recruits to look elsewhere. This allows them to decommit instead of having the offer pulled so neither side looks bad

I read where it wasn't his decision. And that he was hoping to still come to LSU. Besides, you have to make room for the game changers that's still available.

Not good enough for us, but good enough for Clemson, a team that has been to 4 straight CFP? It’s a bad look if we are encouraging 4 star recruits out of Baton Rouge to look elsewhere. Imagine if this kid committed to Alabama initially.

Remember to respect his decision.

Someone in his ear about what we have coming back and coming in so they “guaranteeing” him playing time. And, probably some money too. He better hope he doesn’t Go to another SEC school or there will be some “Major Burns” with the receiving corps we got coming back
