Shaq was a legit 7'1" in his prime. He's 50 now and men usually start to shrink in height during their 30's. Look at pics of him with Yao from their playing days and after retirement. You can see he's lost an inch or two

Shaq looked like a giant on the court at LSU. He was significantly taller than anyone in most games.

Pops could still bully him on the court. Imagine being a kid to Shaq. Those are some huge shoes to fill. Shareef could become an all American and have a successful NBA career and still not come anywhere near the level pops did/is.

That hair adds at least another 2-3 inches just by looming at their heights..and you start getting shorter with age

Shaq lost three inches from hoisting up all those heavy trophies over the years, never mind carrying the weight of all the bling and cash he has.

Disks compress as you age. I am not as tall as I was in my 20s and Shaw is just 3-4 years older then me. And he has a lot more mass pulling down on his disks then me….

Gravity won against Shaq. His spine shrank. He never was 7'1".
