LSU plans to stick with Matt McMahon next season and increase the team's NIL budget, according to Shea Dixon.

McMahon is currently in his third season as LSU's head coach with a 12-12 (1-10 SEC) record.

LSU went 14-19 (2-16 SEC) in his first season in Baton Rouge and 17-16 (9-9 SEC) with a trip to the NIT First-Round in year two.

LSU's NIL budget in basketball reportedly ranks amongst the lowest in the SEC, along with South Carolina.

Matt McMahon signed three Top-100 players in the 2025 recruiting class and can now be more aggressive in the transfer portal with an increased NIL budget.

Season ticket holder. I’ve been to all the games. $$ is not the problem. Coaching and the lack thereof is the problem. EZ to see

Not really. Football is a bigger money maker. Nothing is taking away from that.

LSU men’s BB started to go downhill when we got rid of Brady. That guy was awesome

Haha! We were 11-21 in the league in his last two seasons. Think that downhill slide started with Brady. The only consistent uptick we have had in the program in 30 years is 2017-2022.

Maybe Elon Musk can send some of that fraudulent money he’s finding in our government. Maybe a million a transfer. It’ll take 20 million actually. I heard he is going to Ft Knox maybe a few dozen gold bricks for basketball. Anyway no matter what amount of money for NIL’s he’s a crappy coach

…. the state of basketball at LSU it’s only about the Benjamins not the coach or players

What's the point in playing the games? Just give the trophy to the team with the most $$$ and call it a day
user avatar
No. Let's take all their support ans send it to football.

Not saying it will and not saying it won't matter.

But with increased NIL support is not running it back when talent on the court matters most.

And isn't "run it back" the most stupidest phrase ever?

I originally read the headline as “increase NIT support,” which also made sense….

The anonymous sources of the increased donations were from Austin, College Station, Fayetteville, Oxford, Starkville, Norman, Tuscaloosa, and Auburn. The following year, the remaining SEC teams are to donate to help keep CMM.

He deserves a shot. But NIL paying players has Fd up college sports. The biggest NIL piggy bank wins.
