LSU power forward Naz Reid went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday night. Some draft projections had Reid going late in the 2nd round.

Naz was interesting. He was lanky but broad in the shoulders. I thought he played hard every game. I think he should’ve developed more under the basket and passed on trying to be an outside shooter. His body was not meant for not running the point, but posting up.

He was not close to ready. He needed one or two more years. Now, he will never see an NBA game unless it’s from the stands. Very rare if he gets called up

I enjoyed watching Naz play...until he would dribble.

It’s ridiculous that college basketball players can play one fricking year and then declare for the draft. frick the NBA. They need to change the rules that they should have to play at least 2 years after signing a scholarship. Complete bull shite.

Naz is unpolished and was not ready for the NBA. That was clear after his Frosh campaign. Wish he would have stayed for one or 2 more years and worked out the kinks...too bad.

Maybe he should have learned to play the post first

Unathletic, mediocre set shooter, poor hands, and plays way smaller than his size. What’s the surprise here?

i don’t know who was giving him advice, but not once did he look ready for the NBA. The potential was there for sure, but he might, MIGHT, have been a mid/late first rounder if he had stayed one more year.

i bet if they could declare from high school he would have went as well, this is why the NBA wants college for prospectus

It’s sad, but these kids sometimes get bad advice from people. He really could have benefited by another year in school.

That three bench press hurt him. I know about the KD bench but Naz is no KD. He should have been in the gym , he knew it was coming. #workethic#

College athletics is a joke. I would say a large % of these kids coming to play football or basketball do not care about an education. They want to showcase their skills to get to the Pro's. People say well why doesn't the NCAA allow universities to pay these kids. They get a free scholarship which is worth a lot of money. Plus an education. Which can be invaluable. Personally I'd rather there be stricter admission guidelines so that universities could only get kids that want an education and to play a sport. As for these kids who are great athletes, but don't care about an education they just want to play ball.....I say go find a developmental league and make peanuts while you develop. There are so many good kids who deserve a scholarship but never get a chance because they weren't a great athlete. Good but not great. Why are we rewarding these kids who can basically only play a sport and can barely make academic admission requirements. And once he does he has to be helped to make the grade to stay in school. And lets be honest some of these classes they take are a joke. I don't know this young man. I don't know what his academics were. But 1 and done? Why even come to school in the first place. Just go to a developmental league out of high school and hone your skills. Leave college sports for the kids who deserve it. We see this in basketball more so than football. And I know I will hear crap for this. Oh you butt hurt because you weren't good enough. Wrong. I went to school on a scholarship and played ball. And had a 4.0 GPA. And I used to get so pissed at some of the uneducated guys who were there to only play ball. These guys barely could speak a complete sentence. And I know Im gonna hear the race card pulled too. No Im not a racist. I believe in treating everyone fairly. And yes a large majority of the kids Im referring to are black. It is what it is. You look at football teams or basketball teams and there are far more blacks playing than whites. Better athletes in most cases. God blessed them with skills. I want the black kids with smarts that can become doctors or something better after a playing career. And this isn't about black or white. But until universities step back and realize how much time and money they waste on these 1 and done or 2 and done kids or the ones who just don't have the smarts....we will continue to see things as they are today.
