Former UCLA pitcher Thatcher Hurd is transferring to LSU, according to multiple sources.
Hurd, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Manhattan Beach, Calif. is LSU's sixth commitment from the transfer portal and the third pitcher to join the team along with Creighton’s Dylan Tebrake and Vanderbilt’s Christian Little. Per Geaux247:
Hurd, who is coming off a phenomenal freshman season cut short by injury, appeared in nine games with a 1.06 ERA in 34 innings pitched with 48 strikeouts. Six of those outings resulted in saves for the Bruins as Hurd allowed just four runs the entire season.
His first collegiate season was unfortunately cut short due to a pars defect in his back, in other words a stress fracture of the bones of the lower spine. Hurd was listed as out indefinitely back in early April and didn’t return to the field.
