Kentucky Football Assistant Coach Says They Are 'Damn Close To Alabama And Ohio State'
© Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports
While on a morning show this week, Kentucky associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow got Wildcat fans all pumped up with his excitement for the future of their program, per justthecats.com...
quote:

“In the past you had to sell a vision,” Vince explained. “Now you’re selling these guys that we’re right there on the cusp. We’re close. All we need is a few big-time guys like we got this weekend to push and go to Atlanta. It’s to get to Atlanta [winning the SEC East]. They see it, they want it, AND WE WILL BE THERE.”

“This Wan’Dale Robinson—he is everything that people have been hearing about,” Vince said. “I’ve been really impressed with our quarterbacks—and Joey Gatewood has really looked good to me. Beau [Allen] has done some good things. Kaiya [Sheron] has done some good things. I really like all the quarterbacks.”

Running back—“loaded”; offensive line—”pretty good”; tight end—”real good”; defensive line—”real good”; secondary—”real good”; receivers—”really looking good.”

Vince singled out Josh Paschal as someone whose talent and leadership skills should take him over the top.

“This kid is an absolute monster,” Vince said about UK’s prized senior defensive end. “What makes him even better is that he’s a better person. This guy’s a monster, but he’s a good person off the field…Don’t mistake that. He will have a huge year this year.”

As the State of the Union address concluded, Vince couldn’t hold back about UK Football finally starting to garner some much-deserved respect.
Maybe a little too excited...
quote:

“We’re really starting to get the national respect,” he said. “Here’s how you know. When you got other schools negative recruiting us and saying, ‘This coach may leave, or these guys are loaded at that position.’ I’m going to be honest with you. That’s the kind of crap I used to say about Alabama or Ohio State. I’m not saying we’re Alabama or Ohio State, but we’re damn near close.”

I still see Kentucky as an easy win for LSU.

Compared to where we were with Joker Phillips there has been massive improvement. But Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, they are on a different level year in and year out.

Look at a map chasboo. Lexington is much closer to Tuscaloosa and Columbus than to Baton Rouge.

coachspeak. I don't know why anyone pays any attention to anything a coach says. They're always spinning, and that's understandable. But with a few rare exceptions, nearly all coaches won't give you their true opinions, just spin.

They even trail both schools in basketball. LOL

If by close he means 3-4 wins a year then I guess they are close!

Sounds like someone needs to lay off that Kentucky whiskey.

What else is he supposed to say... We suck and best we can hope for is UGA/ UF to have a bad year? He is just recruiting. Hard to do being negative about your program

Geographically, he closer to both than CA or AK

He just said that because he is bored in the east and wants to get in the west with the big boys.

He don’t want this smoke. I’d gladly switch LSU and Kentucky though
