As much as we argued…I wouldn’t change it for the world.

You mean forced labor while he criticized?

Individually? Yes. Same time? No. Worked on the farm with my German great grandpa and Czech great grandmother. Worked at the deer camp with my dad and grandpa. Not allowed to work with my Italian great grandfather or grandfather due to the nature of their business. Could be physical at times.

Not all 3, but my immediate thoughts based on your question was one of my father and I building a speaker box in 1985 for a couple 6x9's to go behind the bench seat of his Chevy pickup that he allowed me to drive.

Dad was doing all the cutting and screwing .. I was installing the speakers I had bought.

Tightening down one of the speakers .. the screwdriver slipped in my hand and punctured one of the 6x9's. I froze .. shocked by what had just happened.

Dad laughed .. and with his dead serious "dad" voice said .. "It's a little different when you frick your own shite up ain't it son" ..

Pissed me off at the moment, but was a valuable lesson that I never forgot ..

Miss you dad ..

Great grandpa? No, Im not from a trashy line with people having kids at 20 years old for generations. My grandfathers were 70 and 80 when I was born.

My dad and I were like oil and water when it came around to helping with stuff. Our thought processes were completely the opposite. If I would push, he really wanted me to pull, etc. He had a mind for fixing stuff that I just never had.

I did become quite useful at holding the flashlight though

I helped my father rebuild a 1976 Volkswagen Beetle. Front to back.

I also did the yard work with him on Saturday mornings along with miscellaneous house repairs.

Great times!!!

Never really spent much time with Grandpa.

You were allowed to speak?

Not with my great, but my grandfather and dad plenty. Pretty funny looking back on it. They would argue for ever on how to cut a tree. Papa had cut timber his entire life, you could put a can out there and he’d drop tree on it, dad not so much. He would just quit and let dad make cut, sometimes he’d save him from screwing up, other times he’d let her eat. When they’d fall wrong there was plenty of entertainment. “Son, we are trying to keep the beetles away from the good trees, not place them on them”.

Never knew my great, though did work at my gf's deli on Long Island in Glen Cove (a black Italian town), and we had a grand old time together.

As a teen I worked on cars with my dad, back when that was a thing. Buy a Chiltons, put it up on ramps and roll under there, or lift the hood and sit on the radiator and lean in and get to work... also good memories.

My grandfather was a rice farmer who had 5 girls. I was the first grandchild and a boy. He put me to work on the farm at an early age. Great memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
