You will be hard pressed to find a better caliber than either of the 2 you already have.

I'm pretty sure there will be no more tax free days. I bought my Honda when the 2016's were coming out and got a good deal on it.

Could it be that your temp tag was hung in your window behind the illegal tint?

re: Rut Report Liberty, MS

We are a few miles south of Liberty. I haven't heard any reports of chasing yet. Saw some good scrape activity two weeks ago. I'll be up there next weekend for sure. Killed a nice 8 chasing last year on the 7th.
I was at a gun store once and one of the guys behind the counter was showing this girl a glock. When she was done looking at it, she handed it back and he stuck his hand flat out in front of the barrel and dry fired it. Aside from a number of things he did wrong, why the hell would you deliberately stick your hand in front of the barrel???

re: Which brand of decoys?

Posted by EMP40 LSU on 12/25/15 at 1:49 pm to
People get so worked up over decoys now... they gotta buy the best brands and the prices have become ridiculous. We still hunt with a few 20 year old flambeaus in our spread and have no problem getting ducks to work. My advice would be to get whatever you can find the best deal on... flambeaus seem to be priced pretty fairly. Academy's game winner decoys have improved a ton too. We buy mostly gray duck decoys now cause that's what we kill. But if you're hunting some place like the wax where you might want a bunch of decoys, I sure wouldn't want to spend a ton of money on decoys.
There's plenty of meat in stone crab bodies, and it's good too. You CAN keep them per the recreational regs: "Blue crabs or stone crabs can be taken
with any legal crab trap, crab drop
net, trawl, hoop net, trotline, handline,
bushline, dip net or cast net." LINK

Commercial crabbers can only keep 1 claw.

I find that hard to believe, but good for you if it's true. I've made about 7 hunts that way an averaged about a bird per hunt. Don't think I'm headed back that way anytime soon. Either you have a great spot or I'm Doig something wrong.

Where y'all at? We are not too far north of lake Boudreaux
We've limited every hunt in the marshes near Chauvin, 95% gray ducks though, so not much of an indicator of what you would probably see over there.

If you don't want your duck to taste like duck, use game tame made by allegro.

The S&W DA action is inferior to the old v-spring Colt DA action IMO. - The Colt cylinder turns clockwise which pushes the cylinder / crane into the frame, not away like the S&W. - The 2 stage hand on the Colt locks the cylinder into perfect alignment with the bore when the trigger is pulled (zero cylinder movement). - The Colt cylinder latch design allows the shooter to press his thumb against it steading the gun during off-hand shooting. Other folks prefer Smiths. More power to them.

Not arguing with you there. I like smiths but they're definitely not the most robust on the market. The improvements I was talking about were on the antiques. Colt is superior, but they don't want to make anymore for us. :(

This is what you need if you want a quality sealer. If you don't feel you need to spend 3-400 bucks, then get a food saver. I've had one goin on 3 years now from a wedding gift and it has surprised me.

So they copied a feature and made improvements to it. Either way its not really relevant for comparison with modern designs, which is what we're discussing here. The modern smiths and colts operate pretty differently.

One thought would be to get a cheap shitty gun locker and put some shitty guns in it. Hide the good stuff elsewhere.

I'ma tell ya,you wouldn't be fooling many. Most guns stolen are by close acquaintances or family members.

Serious as a heart attack.

My grandfather was an avid gun collector and this is one of the things he told me when I was young. Don't ever show people where you keep your guns, even friends. He had a couple less valuable guns locked in a gun rack which would be easy to break into, and the rest of his stuff was in a safe elsewhere. It wasn't until I was about 20 that he showed me his bench safe which was in the kids playroom where we would play when I was little.

I don't have the same setup, but I spent a lot of money on a very nice safe, and my house alarm is always set. They might be able to get in, but they won't have a enough time to get anything out of that safe.

Seriously... Tell the seller you need the serial numbers and you are going to run them to ensure the gun is clean before meeting with him. If he disappears and doesnt respond, probably stolen.
If he gives them to you, its literally a five minute phone call to have them verified.

If anyone I've never met before starts asking me for serial numbers of a gun I'm trying to sell, I'm just going to sell it somewhere else.

A decent Bill of sale (there are templates on the internet), should cover you in the event that it turns out to be a stolen firearm. If you're nervous, get their ID and copy the information down yourself. If you get a bad vibe... move on.
And the technique is a bit different than what some people are used to.
