So whats the going brand ? Had an old Foodsaver that I finally tossed out.

Just occasional household use, fish, shimps, meat etc.

On line reviews for the Foodsavers don't sound to good...???

I've been holding out for months to find a good sale and haven't found one yet. I'm about to have to bite the bullet.

the most recent foodsaver ones work 10000x better than the older ones. they've improved a lot.

has the last one around 10 years and it finally crapped out. picked up a new one last year and it's great.

what bags does that use? do you order them from cabela's?

i like being able to pick up the foodsaver ones at walmarks because usually when i'm ready to use it someone has left me with no bags.

eta: i'm a big fan of their commercial equipment. have the grinder, meat mixer, and all to make our sausage and it's top notch.

This is what you need if you want a quality sealer. If you don't feel you need to spend 3-400 bucks, then get a food saver. I've had one goin on 3 years now from a wedding gift and it has surprised me.

Bad to leak when sealing. I freeze what I'm sealing first.

Order the generic bags in bulk rolls from Amazon.

I have the food saver from Sam's Club. I think it costs around $150. It has a hose attachment that you can seal mason jars with. Saves a ton of money over constantly using bags. We make batches of chili and its good for weeks when we vacuum seal them. We also buy a big bag of romaine lettuce from Sam's and chop and seal those in the quart container glass mason jars. For dinner it's easy to throw some chicken on the grill and crack open a couple of mason jars of lettuce. We use the mason jars more then anything for quick meals.
