I can't remember what went down. Is it a fact that we picked Miles over Petrino? Did we interview him? What were the details of the situation? Thanks.

I heard he was a cocky little bastard when they talked to him and we backed away. I'm telling it exactly like I heard it. They also felt like Miles had more experience because of the NFL and coaching in a major conference.

They didn't like his character or his responses about academics.

Arkansas doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Petrino reminded Skip a little too much of the guy he was replacing, at least all of the bad qualities, anyway.

Just sayin.......

Why does everyone think Petrino would have been so much better than Les?

At that point he had been HC at L'Ville for 2 years.

He;s also had some huge choke jobs.

Everyone that hates Miles always brings up UT in 2005.

Petrino had 2 losses WORSE than that, with 0 excuses.

Petrino acted an arse in the interview. I think they also knew he had an eye on the NFL

I don't know why people harp on the UT game so much. I was sick when we lost, but I got over it. The team was overwhelmed at the time, and the game ended up affecting nothing. We still made it to the SECCG. The Arkansas game is a much bigger choke job to me (although I guess you could say that game didn't end up affecting anything either).

well LSU fans also like to brag about how tough the SEC is yet can't understand why we haven't won the NC 3 years in a row

LSU did interview Petrino before offering the job to Miles.

Selection committee wasn't impressed with him during the interview. Could have been his attitude that turned them off him.

He was a very fashionable candidate at that time. Louisville's offense was putting up big numbers under Petrino then.

Another problem was that he'd been sneaky and accepted the invitation to interview with Auburn behind everyone's back. Tuberville had been the one to help him get the HC job at Louisville.

When word leaked on the Auburn side, Petrino straight denied that the meeting ever took place. He lied to everyone back in Louisville.

There's a couple legitimate red flags right there. Glad the selection committee did its job!

As Jim Rome said today, Petrino stabbed Atl in the back, did the same thing to Louisville and he tried to stab Tubby in the back. It's only a matter of time before he does it to Ar-kansas.

He met with the Aubies, behind his former bosses' back, the man who gave him his chance and recommeded him for the UL job and did it without asking permission of UL.

Tubby will have the Ar-Kansas game circled.

amen BigJ...I agree, but I have a die hard LSU friend that will tell you that LSU has been the most talented team in the country the last 3 years and should have more hardware under Miles...

I hate Tubbs, but I can't wait until he takes Petrino to the woodshed.

My Dad has a friend who claimed to be "in the know" at the time and he relayed this exact same thing. Said Petrino walked in with a what-can-you-guys-do-for-me, sell-me-on-your-program attitude and he was shown the door rather quickly.

This might be complete BS...but looking at the guy, I believe it.

Time will show that Skip made the right decision and that AR-Kansas will still be #3 in the West at best. That is, while he stays there before moving on to the next best thing.
