Baker’s defense gave up 10 points in the first half. In the second half. Bama got the ball to start inside the red zone twice. Bama literally could have taken a knee each time, kicked field goals, and still won the game because we only scored 13 fricking points

I honestly believe that if Baker's defense had made a stand right after LSU took the lead, the Tigers would have won the game. We had momentum, and the pressure would have been on bama and they would have folded, and the Offense would have sprung to life.

I'm singing the same tune. Need to realize that Baker and his defense did a great job, especially when you consider the position our offense put them in. We just can't expect Baker to contain an effective scoring offense until our offense decides to score points.

Bakers defense is good until critical moments in big games.
I.E. Ole Miss, Kentucky and Bama. We tie or take the lead and the Baker chooses to play soft prevent defense and we lose. Can't dispute facts my friend.

How about that defense after we went up 13-10? Think that doesn't matter here at all? Offense was clearly trash but they weren't getting any help in that moment.

Instead, the Bama offense immediately cut thru the LSU defense like a hot knife thru butter. It wasn’t even competitive.

Yes, I can. But then again, I'm sure that you and your armchair million-dollar coaches with all your experience know better.

It’s not the stats. Or the points.

It’s the insane amount of ease with which opponents score against this Defense in key situations.

Every time all season we have gained momentum in a competitive game, this defense immediately gives up touchdowns. Not long drives, not trick plays—immediate momentum killing TD plays. And god forbid we keep anyone from running 5 play 75 yard scoring drives within 2 minutes of a half or quarter break.

They have no clutch. It’s not the amount of points. They always fail when it matters.

My issue with baker is he forgets what got him there in crucial moments. He did a good job not asking Cooley to be in man coverage vs these bama wideouts and goin with woodland in nickel. Why is Cooley guarding Rico Scott on bama’s biggest pass play? Why is slow arse keys the last line of defense on Russell’s crucial scramble ?

I hear all that… but the defense giving up a touchdown 5 plays after we took the lead lost the game…

You are an idiot. Leavitt was our problem yesterday not our defense.

More than one thing can be true. There’s a bunch of reasons we sucked yesterday. Both Leavitt’s shittiness and horrible situational defense are on the long list.

His body of work speaks for itself; LSU was a shite show when he was hired.

This is how Baker continues to survive. He’s judged relative to House, the offense, the schedule, etc, which props him up.

He does not produce when it matters. He deserves criticism and glad people are coming around to that since the Kentucky game.

We gave up 287 yards
Yep we got caught in a blitz (where a very good QB made great play)
Yep, I wish our red zone D play was better
But a punt return, awful Red Zone Off, & Coach giving up with 8 minutes left has zilch to do with D

We moved the ball up and down the field all night. When we needed Leavitt he didn't produce. Russell was the difference last night, PERIOD!.

I’m not sure how much more y’all need to see to understand that Baker is a good DC, but his defense doesn’t stand tall when leaned on in big moments.

This isn’t just a Baker thing these days so I’m not bashing him. It is what it is.

I’m willing to bet he won’t be at LSU much longer. If he gets a job offer from a school like Tulane again, the situation wont be the same as it was last year.

IF the offense would have scored while in the red zone in the first half we would have won the game.

You can make strong cases the defense was the reason we lost to Kentucky and Ole Miss. The Defense wasn't the problem yesterday.
