The Senate elects it's leadership positions without the president being involved.

As I recall, Trump came out in support of John Thune when he literally didn’t need to, and people like Rick Scott, who were running and better positioned to articulate a MAGA message, got shafted.
No, it needs to be multilateral. The Iranians will not trust Israel to keep their word, and Israel will not trust the Iranians. You need regional involvement and participation from gulf/Arab states to enforce any kind of peace.

The guy who thinks saying “Christ is King” is antisemitic? Yeah, he can either frick all the way off or take a permanent vacation to Cancun this time so we never have to see his ugly face again.

Amen. MAGA is too far left.

Imagine if Republicans actually wielded power the way Democrats do. We retreat the second a bipolar lesbian from Minnesota has a psychotic break. These motherfrickers burned down a whole building full of women and children to enforce their gun laws.

My only beef with JD right now is waiting until after it was too late to go public. His assessment is actually spot-on.

The war mongers like Rubio will get rejected at the ballot box.

Rubio stands for nothing. Was a Tea Party candidate for Senate, ran for President praising the Bushes and the Iraq/Afghanistan Wars. Vocally defended NATO, NAFTA, and the TPP and was opposed to tariffs, all until Trump got the nomination in 2016. He’s a political chameleon who changes direction like the wind.

MAGA is dead and Tuesday night was the funeral. America First is just getting started
Conservatism in any form has failed to conserve any of what made America great in the first place. The next generation of right wing leadership needs to understand two things -

1) you ignore race and identity politics at your own peril. Black people, Hispanics, and Jews have shown they will vote for Democrats overwhelmingly time and time again. Meanwhile, the core constituency of the GOP, white men, were treated to Vivek talking about the mediocrity of American workers and an offensive ad from Sarah Sanders depicting young white men as lazy losers in their parents basements. Among other examples of failure to connect at an identity level.

2) the right today is wasting precious time trying to reform institutions or slow down the march of progressivism. They need to be dismantling these institutions that were captured long ago. Much of the 20th century “progress” needs to be repealed or abolished entirely. Paraphrasing Rothbard, it’s too late to turn back the clock of social democracy. We have to break the clock.
I’d love to see Brandon Gill as House Republican Leader
As Minority Leader should be primaried immediately. The worst, most useless Senate leader in American history. Likewise, no one in the current House leadership should be Minority Leader in the new Congress.
Maybe if we give the Republicans a supermajority, we can get a voter ID law passed!
Mass democracy/egalitarianism breeds moral and financial bankruptcy. We are no longer a republic, the Constitution is totally unenforceable at this point and therefore, many people are getting exactly what they deserve - high cost of living, political division and violence, moral intransigence, etc. because the masses wanted it. But those of us who work, pay more taxes, and have more skin in the game should not be held hostage by net consumers.

Massie. Not a chance, lost his own primary

Massie lost because Ed Gallrein’s voters were Boomers who watched Fox News and Gallrein ads all day and believe Israel is some kind of supernatural Mecca. The future of the right, young voters, were more inclined to vote for Massie.

After Tuesday night, it is impossible to deny that he has been vindicated. If the GOP had listened to Tucker, MTG, and Massie in the first place, we wouldn’t be asking why the election was such a bloodbath.

Do you think Stephen Miller will be better or just as money hungry and corrupt?

I trust Stephen Miller more than I trust Susie Wiles, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to repair trust. Susie was apparently fired before she tried to get Hegseth fired, but I think they both need to go. Anyone who advocated for this war or is sympathetic to Israeli nationalism needs to be shown the door. America First cannot include exceptions, and Trump needs to get back to what he campaigned on 2016-2024. I don’t know if his ego will allow him to make significant enough changes, but if the party as a whole does not reverse course, it’s going to be back to the wilderness.
Susie Wiles has amassed a fortune lobbying for the same industries that gave her breast cancer. She is a swamp creature and there’s a reason why DeSantis expelled her from Florida state politics. Having said that, it was entirely Trump’s choice to bring in lobbyists like her, and Bush-era campaign veterans like Chris LaCivita.

Back in the good old days, Trump would listen to people on Twitter and interact with them. I think that kept him grounded and politically in tune with his base. There was a lot of turnover in the first administration, but I always felt like his political instincts were good. This second administration it seems that he’s lost touch. These people apparently were trying to tell him the border and immigration were no longer an issue.
Somehow this might be the worst take I’ve ever seen. Trump and the WH pretty much took the exact same approach to inflation that Biden did, to tell people they’re wrong, all while talking about the stock market and a variety of vanity projects that have no impact on people’s lives. The Iran War was a calamitous mistake from the beginning and a betrayal to the MAGA base. There were a lot of young, white men who either sat out or said “frick it” because we’d rather stick needles in our eyes than vote for another feckless Republican liar.
