Srixon ZXI5 irons. Anyone playing them?

In a nutshell I've got a 6-PW set on the way that I got blind. Don't really have the time for a fitting right now and these were a good price, but I am pretty sure that my original set of Irons (2021 T300) just doesn't really fit my game anymore. Between the regular flex shaft and the wild front/back dispersion I just have minimal consistency or control over where a ball is going. My 8 iron ranges from 150 to 170 on well struck shots. I can get a really spinny, ballooning ball flight. Great for holding a green but not so great for trusting a number. That same contact might go 170 the next time I pull the club out. That seems to be a fairly common thread for the game improvement category. A really hot face and a really high launch. My 5 iron is a T200 and it's pretty much 190 on the nose every time give or take 5 yards. I might be the only golfer on earth that relishes pulling out his 5 iron over anything else in the bag because I just know what it's going to do
Did a good bit of research on the "players distance" category and settled on these. If I just can't hit them, the resale value looks to be good enough that I won't take a huge haircut. Wondering if anyone is gaming them and how you like them.

Srixon really pushed hard for my daughter to switch from her Titelist thing - and she had prototypes of both sent to her to play for a week. I wanted her to switch to Srixon but at the end of the day she felt more comfortable with the Titelist T series…
What I’ve been told is that the srixons fly lower so you need to have the elite game to be able to make it work for you…

I don't have elite game
I do play 99% of my golf on the coast though. So I'm typically battling wind as it is, and like I said..I don't mind hitting the ball high, I'm just hitting it too high right now with my current irons. My flight is an exaggerated version of this when I strike it well. I need to knock some spin off. With my mid and high irons, my ball is almost always within a foot of my pitch mark. Might sound great, but my front/back dispersion is still all over the place. I'm really just hunting more consistency in distance. I don't care if my 7 iron goes 160 or 180, I just want it to go in a 5 yard distance window so I know what to expect.

Definitely on my short list

Great irons. Work well for a wide variety of handicaps. they have enough launch help that most handicap levels can use them. Pretty long as well but without those hotspots some irons can have, and they are consistent enough in distance and controllable enough that I know quite a few low single digit players who use them
To me, they are as close to a “cannot go too wrong” set as you can get. For any given person, they may not be the absolutely most optimal, but they would probably be reasonable

I play the ZXi5 and the one thing they don’t do is fly low.
I have played the mizuno 921,923 Taylor made 790, and even had a set of Takomo 201 from a buddy for a month. ZXi5 are by far the most consistent, I wouldn’t really call them distance compared to 790 or 923 hot metal. Just a stable high launch iron that plays pretty similar from heel to toe.

I have a set. They are still sitting in the box. Great deal on golfwrx.

I have the older ZX5’s 5 to PW. Love them

Once I started leaving my clubs in the bag room at my club, I started paying attention to the bag drop off station and the ZX series irons make up a good bit of bags that have relatively new stuff. Almost never a Srixon driver though.
So apparently a lot of people are playing them. Good looking irons. I like the V Sole.

Seems like a very good choice for what you’re describing, lots of pros play these in the long irons (often without a contract and some even with a different brand in the short irons) which is a testament to their consistency and performance. Sounds like you are a steep player so the v sole should be great for you. You also likely err on the side of too much spin so if you’re still noticing the ballooning make sure you aren’t playing a high spin ball ( the “X” version except for taylormade) and instead trying a standard ball like the ProV1 or similar.

I've got my eyes on the ZXI R

Believe it or not, complete opposite. I pick it. Rarely take a divot and when I do it's minimal. I'm probably presenting more static loft than dynamic loft because of this

Switched from the Mizuno JPX 925 hot metal pro to these. I suffered from the same thing, inconsistent length on well struck shots. The ZXi5 do create more spin, that is why they are more consistent than the T300, the T300's are made for distance and forgiveness, less spin makes the ball go farther and they won't hold the green as well. You will notice a difference in feel on a shot not struck in the center, the ball won't travel as far. The ZXi5's aren't as forgiving as your current clubs but they are definitely more consistent. One other thing, the lofts are different on the Srixon's the 6,9 and P have 1 degree more loft and the 7 and 8 have 2 so there will be a small loss in distance because of it, just be aware. I had mine bent 2 degrees to make them stronger so they would match the Mizuno's, I didn't want to have to rearrange my wedges and woods and it was easier, only cost $22.00.

I did notice that, but also noticed that these are 1/4" longer off the shelf than the T300s throughout the bag.
Not too worried about bombing my irons though. I fee like I hit them far enough. The random nukes were killing me though

You mean random perfection?
I suffer from the same problem. I think the most beautiful, majestic shot I ever hit when I had 923 Hot Metals was a 7 iron that made that sizzling noise when it left the face and wound up 25 yards deep over the next tee box behind the green I was aiming at... leaving a me attempting a short sided flop shot back to a green sloping away from me.
