Wife and I are taking a trip to Hilton Head in July.

How hard is it? On what hole will I want to go take a swim with the gators?

I played it a few years back. It’s a tight course for sure but not overly hard. Not too many gators in that course. I played some others on the island and they had way more.

Played it 24 years ago, it was a tight course with small greens and trees in the way if you're on the wrong side of the fairway. To be quite honest, the first 15 holes are pretty much like another tree lined course with houses on either side, nothing special to write home about, the last 3 where it opens up and you can see the Calibogue Sound is where the ohhhs and ahhhs are, pretty cool, the lighthouse is iconic. Is it worth it, if you've got several hundred laying around, sure, if not, you could find better courses for less. We went to Myrtle Beach last year and played Calidonia Golf and Fish Club and Barefoot Resort Dye Club and I found them more interesting and memorable. You could play both if those for less than the price of one round at Harbour Town.

I posted this in a different thread.
I enjoyed HT, but it wasn’t a $700 course. Playing 18 with the lighthouse is as iconic as any hole in golf. But outside of that, the only thing to get excited about is the par 3s. As a group, they are fantastic. Only 17 & 18 are on the sound. So for $700 you get 5 great holes.

There are a lot of courses on Hilton head Island. A cheaper option may be better unless your bent on playing a tour course.

$700 is obscene for that course but people must pay it. T compare, for much of the year $700 will get you 4 Bandon courses over 2 days

With caddie tip that’s going to close in on $1,000. That’s too much

I played Harbour Town but it was $350 as we were part of a wedding group that was getting married in the clubhouse.

I thought the course was in immaculate shape. The fairways were near perfect. I also thought the clubhouse and men’s locker room was the best I have been in

ETA: our caddie was a 65 year old retiree that smoked weed the entire time

I played Harbour Town in March and the quote above is spot on. I guess it's cool to be able to say we played it but it wasn't anywhere near worth the price tag. The course is in great condition, don't get me wrong, but it's a max $250 course and that's probably generous.

I went to Hilton head last year for the first time and harbor town was being renovated. So I played Heron point instead. Think I paid like 260 or something

About 4 years ago played it for $400ish, was worth it at that price in my opinion. As said above, the par 3s are elite. Glad I had the opportunity, wouldn't spend $700.

I played many years ago.

It is a beautiful site for a golf course, tight, but not as hard as Pinehurst.
