" Brooks Koepka has always been a golfer who, from the outside, likes to do things a little differently, and on the heels of a surprise announcement this morning, he'll get that chance once again after splitting with his official equipment supplier, Srixon "

Brooks has had quite a time of it since leaving LIV. The irony of course being that he said he wanted to leave LIV to spend more time with his family and yet he's having to show up to tournaments he's not even playing in hopes of someone gets a stomach bug so he can play.

true, but he can be home in a couple of hours since hes stateside. Cant really scoot home to Jupiter (or wherever) from Dubai.

Besides, he could see your beloved LIV was circling the bowl. I'm sure hes content back in the US and having a chance to keep playing PGA golf while the rest of LIV eyes the DP World Tour.

almost as ironic as this statement being made by Scott O'Neal in April of this year
quote:

The first thing I say when I’m talking to any player is, LIV Golf is not for everybody. If you want to spend your time in the US, this is the wrong league for you. If you want your home time and you don’t like leaving and you like practicing at the same course and you like to manage your own schedule, this is not for you.

after these comments were made by defectors from the PGA Tour a few years ago
quote:

“Just the quality of life for us as players now. You know, having less events, being able to spend more time at home with the family.”

“It’s given me a lot more opportunity outside of the game of golf and given me more time with my family and my future family.”

“It provides me to play, compete, bring the sport throughout the world, play less, and have a better balance in life on and off the course. I can [now] be more engaged with the people I really care about.”

“There’s several [reasons]. Having more time with the family. Playing a little bit less. And at the end of the day, you feel like you’ve worked pretty much your whole life for something, this was the opportunity that you’ve been waiting for.”

It's almost like Koepka was given an opportunity to get back stateside permanently and took it even if it meant some short-term issues he'd have to deal with like playing more to get full status back, then he can go back to playing fewer tournaments like he did before.

At least he knows his path forward. His counterparts who stayed are trying to figure out if their league will be alive next year, or hoping they’ll be on the DP World Tour and KFT where the purses are 10% of what they’ve been playing for and the field is twice the size.

Brooks is probably only still active to chase a green jacket. He has made 98m only factoring in trounament winnings. So who knows how rich he is between the Liv contract/signing bonus and brand deals.

He really made out like bandit in all of this, good for him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Koepka stays independent and keeps his Srixon irons in the bag. His strokes gained approach was #1 last I checked and the srixons fit his steep and high spin iron style. Likely going to change back to vokey for wedges, to the pro v1x ball, and the usual revolving door at driver.

I think the same. Free agent is probably the way to go for him.
