I know you said BR, but you should give my guy Jake Meddlin a shout at Stripe Show in Dallas. funny enough his family is from plaquemine and asks us to bring him cracklins and boudin from benot's when we make a trip over there.

He does all you're talking about and does it well. He wants to open up a location in baton rouge in the future DUDE IS LEGIT

Greens were aerated on the 28th and 29th, probably will be good to go by next weekend, but they are discounting green fees until then.

One of my worst memories was a couple years back in TN when i played and they didnt tell us greens were aerified CHARGED US FULL PRICE and it was TERRRRRIIIBBBBLLEE!!!!

love the island so much, cant wait till it's back in great shape. :nana:

I agree with that bro, I know some people out at the island and I heard them talk about the issue with the irrigation in the summer, greens were cooked when that happened as I played that week.
Course isn’t in bad shape at all right now, I play at damn near every course in BR, and the island is the second closest to Carter and UClub. Sure you have those bare spots on like 4-5 of the 18 holes but it isn’t bad.

Also complaint about the price… $70 for a weekend round… bro pay $25 at Webb and sit behind morons who are drunk and banging balls every where while you putt on essentially rocks. $70 is a steal for a weekend round nowadays. Or just stop complaining about courses and join up
Somewhere worth the money.

The island always has my vote, great staff, great pace of play, and always have available tee times. Not to mention the track is fun

You didn’t say that was their net score, so I misunderstood.

Getting an insane amount of shots to remove from your score is pretty cheesy

Groups were paired in 6somes when we played.

2 groups of 3 on each hole

The group that shot 63 was not a group of 12s lol
It was the infamous Clayton brown and his buddies. Dudes are all +3 or better.
They also did have a group of 2 plus handicaps shoot like 4 over

Beaver creek greens might be the most inconsistent greens I’ve ever seen. They overseed which make it so insanely hard to read the greens. Also, I just can’t stand that place.
I agree with this. Getting fit is pretty huge. Game improvement irons are made for low spin high launch and long distance. Good luck holding a green with a 4 iron that spins at 2000 rpm. You won’t do it, unless you’re dropping it at an absurd descent angle.
Don’t go spend a fortune on new clubs, but you should definitely go check out the PXG rep in our area. Casey Simoneaux, dude knows how to fit and knows what the ball needs to be doing. Won’t be too pricey either. Can’t hurt to go check it out, see the difference between your clubs and clubs fitted to you

Also just played in the islands revenge tournament. They did have it set up different, teeing up with a baseball bat, tee off blindfolded, no pins on greens, tires on one green. Really a fun setup imo, my group had a blast. ALSO COLD AND WINDY, super tough lol. Island is always in good shape, especially this time of year. Greens getting quick cause of the Bermuda going dormant.
I wanted to try to get on at silver leaf, and still might reach out to them. Family wants a couple days that we don’t play golf. So silver leaf is the last option if we play
Not trying to break the bank for 3-4 rounds of golf but I am quickly finding out that it is expensive. I asked the pro at my club to reach out to a few courses for reciprocals.
Taking a trip and wanting to play with my brother and dad in January.

Solid 7i!

If you’re looking for extra forgiveness, definitely go for a hybrid of some sort, extra height and easy ball speed!
