Played the island yesterday and it was in great shape, greens have healed up nice since they aerated
Couldn't speak any higher of Casey, he is a great guy and knows a hell of a lot about the game. He is in the PGA program so he's definitely an expert of the game!
re: Is getting a morning tee time at Greystone pretty much impossible unless you’re a member?

I hate hitting on mats but I understand why we have to. the islands mats is about the only mat ill hit off in the BR area
There should be nothing less than 3 people on a tee time on FRIDAY-SUNDAY.
Singles aren't allowed at my club on weekends cause it actually hurts pace more than helps it. Yes 5somes are typically slow, but a single or 2some on a weekend morning are the ones who will be causing the pace issues.

KELLY- I've played Kelly Plantation so many times with my brother and dad when I've gone down there and it's always in good shape. I have never played it and been disappointed. the green fees are steep sometimes, but I typically have my home course's golf pro contact them and get a discounted rate.
Never played regatta
RAVEN- It was an absolute pleasure to play last time I was there, they had just had a ladies professional event there the week before and the course was immaculate. I would play it again even at $150+++
WINDSWEPT- I played windswept dunes on my way back from the PGA Show in January and it was in phenomenal shape considering it was winter time. I would go back, i 'wasnt too impressed with their range though. They didn't overseed the range tee so it wasnt the best hitting area, not really something to complain about though.
Never played Emerald bay
Indian Bayou- never played it but heard it's always fantastic
BURNT PINE- You didn't mention this one but it's a private course in the subdivision near raven and the other courses, but back to mentioning your home courses head pro... he contacted them for us and we were able to go out there and play. Was an amazing facility and they were very hospitable.
DONT PLAY BAYTOWNE
DONT PLAY THE LINKS
DONT PLAY SEASCAPE

Lots of teaching pros in the baton rouge area.
Chris burkstaller at the island, has taught many juniors including myself and my brother years ago
Cody maxwell at greystone is the head golf pro and teaching pro
Marshall Saucier at country club of louisiana
Rantz bourgeois at ccl
Blaine Patin at ccl
ethan moser at university club
matthias labritz at ccl
bobby flanagan at baton rouge country club
probably more that im missing but off the top of my head
I would recommend calling those clubs and speaking to those professionals and choose whatever you think is best

When i get past hole 2, i think about how hard 5-12 are going to be especially when the wind is blowing. I think holes 5-12 at the island will make or break your round. :banghead:

I think hole 11 at the island is one of the hardest par 4s in the state.
I think hole 2 can be broken down and played well strategically and consistently, but hole 11 is legit one of the hardest holes you could ever play especially if the wind is blowing off the right from the cane fields and moving it towards the OB

played island sunday afternoon with a 5some, wind was blowing but we had a good time. greens were rolling very well. can confirm course is in very good shape
If i had to guess, the greens will probably be a little faster on the weekends with maybe a cut and roll but i know they are overseeding and not stressing them too much yet so they can ramp it up for the tournament when the time comes.
TPC overseeds their greens this time of year the tournament coming up.
course is in the best shape it's been in like 15 years. was out there this weekend and played 36, DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK!

I know you said BR, but you should give my guy Jake Meddlin a shout at Stripe Show in Dallas. funny enough his family is from plaquemine and asks us to bring him cracklins and boudin from benot's when we make a trip over there.
He does all you're talking about and does it well. He wants to open up a location in baton rouge in the future DUDE IS LEGIT
