Folks, my family is headed to the beach at the end of the month. My dad and I will get away for a couple of rounds. I know the course scene pretty well. We've been going down to that area for 20 years.

The last two times we've gone down, we've played a familiar course with horrendous greens at the time. Regatta Bay's were borderline unplayable in 2023, and Windswept Dunes were awful last summer. I've played both in very good condition over the years which made both surprising.

I'm looking for perspective from folks that have played in Destin over the last 6 weeks or so if possible. Anywhere we should avoid? I'm looking at:

Kelly Plantation
Regatta Bay
Raven
Windswept Dunes
Emerald Bay

It doesn't have to be Augusta, but we don't want to be playing Plinko from 8 feet.

KELLY- I've played Kelly Plantation so many times with my brother and dad when I've gone down there and it's always in good shape. I have never played it and been disappointed. the green fees are steep sometimes, but I typically have my home course's golf pro contact them and get a discounted rate.

Never played regatta

RAVEN- It was an absolute pleasure to play last time I was there, they had just had a ladies professional event there the week before and the course was immaculate. I would play it again even at $150+++

WINDSWEPT- I played windswept dunes on my way back from the PGA Show in January and it was in phenomenal shape considering it was winter time. I would go back, i 'wasnt too impressed with their range though. They didn't overseed the range tee so it wasnt the best hitting area, not really something to complain about though.

Never played Emerald bay

Indian Bayou- never played it but heard it's always fantastic

BURNT PINE- You didn't mention this one but it's a private course in the subdivision near raven and the other courses, but back to mentioning your home courses head pro... he contacted them for us and we were able to go out there and play. Was an amazing facility and they were very hospitable.

I just got back from Destin. I played twice.

Indian Bayou and Regatta are both in great shape.
