I want to see what he does against SEC Friday and Saturday starters with some Velo.

What are you guys talking about, he's the perfect catcher. Isn't that what Maineri stated in an interview last year. If I remember correctly he stated that if he could make a perfect catcher he would be just like Milazzo. Obviously he's full of it.

After attending last nights game Wyeth answered my question.

defensively (stolen bases on them while behind the plate).

I would like to see Wyeth get more opportunities. He's hitting better and if the stats are correct he's 2 for 2 on stolen bases with 0 pass balls while Milazzo is 1 for 7 on stolen bases with one pass ball. At least give him more opportunities before SEC to see what you have.

I believe your talking about Mathis in 19'. Went back and checked the stats for 19 and 20 and yes Garza had 3 pass balls in 19 and 2 in 20 however, the great Milazzo had 2 in 20 as well. Garza was not as bad as some of you on this forum make him out to be. In 19 once he started catching full time if I remember correctly he was hitting somewhere around .475 during that time going through the back end of the season into the SEC tournament and play-offs. I'll take that anyday.
re: Saul Garza signs with the Royals

you are wrong again. He was never given the opportunity to play first. Maineri even mentioned it in an article where he mentioned that he had changed his mind in reference to playing 1st because he did not want to risk anyone running into him while playing first and I mentioned when he played 1st that does not mean he did not play in High School that we do not know. Beloso has played 1st his whole life and he is still terrible at it defensively. If that ball is not thrown straight at him the ball will not get caught makes no attempt and will not leave the ground to jump for a ball. Go look up the NBC World Series Tournament Garza played in at 1st base and see some of the plays he made at that position, I assure you your opinion will change.

All SEC caliber for his offense not his defense. I didn't say take him out of the line up and in reference to a guy who doesn't know how to play the position your absolutely wrong. Just because he never played it at LSU does not mean he doesn't know how to play the position. I looked him up and that's where he played for the JUCO National Team and some at his JC.

If we were not going to use him behind the plate we should have utilized him at 1st base and put Beloso as DH. Defensively Beloso does not move and I see Garza being a lot more mobile.

this team is going to seriously lack some upperclassman leadership.

Plus incentives and education.

re: Cabrera - any chance?

I agree. With them cutting those 42 minor league teams it won't help the situation. The process is changing and I don't see it going back to the way it was.
re: Cabrera - any chance?

So these players have to cut their losses and sign to get their foot in the door if they get a chance. I don't see next years draft getting any easier for them. There will probably be 20 rounds and the draft class will be twice the size because of the limited rounds this year. That's a big decision.

Does their age factor into this in any way? I understand they get their year back however, being that they get older does effect them? I have found articles on minor league players where they will mention that an individual player is 24 years old and he is in double A or he's 24 and he's in A ball and they will state they are old. All these players get the year back to play the year that was cancelled but them staying another year and getting that year older, will it hurt them once they get into pro ball?

Thanks for the stats report. In your opinion why does the walk on at ss not get any at bats? You think he's just there to plug a vacant spot defensively?

I was told he got here to Baton Rouge this past Monday. He had a Doctor's appointment on Tuesday to take an X-Ray on his foot to see if they would clear him to play. The last 3 weeks of the season he was playing with a broken big toe on his foot. I was told he flew out yesterday to the Cape.

Yea, the dude slipped when he decided to return to 1st base after he realized he wouldn't make it to second.

It just surprises me how a school at the level of LSU does not have a real hitting coach and has so many of their hitters going and getting assistance from outside help to get their swings back that were changed by their so called hitting coach.
