LSU may still be recruiting
They could use another infielder for depth
With roster overcrowding there will be a lot of player movement in transfer portal
NCAA most likely will be lenient with waivers as well

No way. Who the hell do you think LSU has returning in terms of position players? Lol

He’s about to turn 22 tho & his clock is ticking. I understand it.

He’s a west coast kid too

This seems like a pretty bad loss

He could have used another year. Maybe he’ll hit a growth spurt

Of Garza, Storz, Labas and Mathis, he was the last one I expected to go. Will suck not having him. That's a proven bat we needed.

He was always expected to be a one year stop gap.

Its losing a good hitter from a team with only a couple proven hitters. Its a loss for sure. But cant blame him if he wants to try to hack it in the mlb

That assumption was under normal circumstances though.

I hope so. It opens a door for him for sure. If not, we still have other options. Arnold, Doughty, Bianco, Dugas. Two of those four can man second and third if Thompson isn't quite ready from day 1.

Arnold will be able to show what he can do
Bianco most likely to move back to 3rd with glut of outfielders
Dugas could be in the mix as well if crews and drost are as advertised And can win of spots
Offense will definitely be the question mark

he was 2 for his last 28 at end of season and he was fielding at .900 wgich is bad. he was overmatched as competition improved. If LSU wants to get wgee we are accustomud to, we need better players than mathis at third.

You don't think that every single baseball player that ever played went into a slump at some point? Mathis was a very good hitter.

Defense was his weakness. That can't be argued, but he was good enough. He wasn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

I can almost assure you that Mathis wasn't told to seek other options.
