I know he’s been beaten up and gives it his all, but between the dropped throw at the plate and swinging at high pitches while the runners were stealing he probably cost us 3 runs and the win:

- he tags out the guy at home: 3-1 UGA
- realizes he’s not a hitter and lets the runners steal/earn the walk: Morgan comes up with bases loaded and one out: at least 3-2 UGA if not 3-3

No; the tag out at the plate was difficult but still a play he usually makes.

Swinging when he did was inexcusable IMO; you’ve got speed on the base paths and you’re a sub .200 hitter Morgan on deck - anyone knows not to move the bat in a 3-ball count

If the HnR was really on in that situation I’m not even joking when I say I’m worried about CPM’s health.

I’m not gonna shite on the kid
He has taken a beating for LSU
If anything I’d say coaching cost us, it doesn’t seem like he’s had any coaching / adjustments with hitting

I know, and that’s why it was hard to accept live but looking back that AB was inexplicable - the odds of anything good happening from swinging are well-known at this point in the season.

Either go for the walk or bunt, period.

Swinging / not swinging decisions have been terrible across the board
Thing is it’s been a complaint through the last 3 hitting coaches
You’d think one of them would have made a difference

I don’t understand 1st pitch swinging the 1st time you see the pitcher

The damn horrible coaching of Paul and Dunn has done this team in. You mean to tell me LSU can not find a catcher who is a good defensive catcher and hit at least .250? It’s due to these two sitting in their arse and not recruiting. Time to turn the page before the Tiger lore is completely gone.

Calling a hit and run with a full count just doesn’t happen. He chased a fastball upstairs with 2 strikes all on his own.

That’s what it looked like, which is what I can’t wrap my head around: you’re the worst hitter on the team with a 3-ball count, guys on 1st and second and the best hitter on deck; what in god’s name possesses you to move the bat one inch?

It’s called a run and hit. In a 3-1 or 3-2 count against a guy like Milazzo you are more than likely getting a fastball. So you start the runners to stay out of the double play ball. If it’s a strike you swing if it’s a ball you take and walk. He swung at a ball and missed and then the runner got thrown out. It’s a call that didn’t work out but I get why he called it.

Ok but with Travinski hurt he is literally the only option back there so you can’t really do anything about it.

The problem is that you don’t know how they’ll hit until they actually face college pitchers who can consistently locate offspeed. If you have a good defensive catcher who is a plus-plus hitter he won’t make it to college.

Most catchers that play college ball are either a liability at the plate or in the field especially as a freshman/sophomore. A high school catcher that is really good at one and competent at the other usually gets drafted and goes pro.

It looks like a lot of the players have not had very good coaching related to hitting, or maybe just very inconsistent coaching on the subject. Just another of the many inexplicable coaching decisions this season. Did they even have a "take" sign?

You are blaming PM & Dunn when the recruiting coordinator is the catchers coach.
He knows exactly what is needed at that position & didn’t recruit better.
Blame PM & Dunn for their problems but don’t let Cain off the hook for not doing his job better.
