Atlanta Steakhouse Recommendations

Posted by cnote on 12/5/19 at 1:02 pm
I'm looking for steakhouse recommendations in Atlanta for a group of 4-5 going for the game this weekend. I will be staying in the Cumberland area, if that helps. I found Stoney River, but have no idea if it fits the bill. Any help from those in the know is appreciated!

Same here. Louisiana and Crystal for most things. I grew up using Tiger Sauce in red beans and rice, still do every now and then.

Not as important as flavor, but what ring size do y’all enjoy? I’m not a cigar smoker, but have been looking for a good sampler pack to try out.
I've used La Crawfish Company before and thought they did a great job. We didn't lose anymore than normal.
Is grinding the inside smooth a typical practice? I know most pots will get there naturally over time.

What's the extra bake? Asking them to run it through the oven longer?
I do some of each (full moon, half moon and quartered) in every gumbo...Not sure why, it's just something I've always done.

re: Your best Barbecue Beans Recipe please

This is not exact and is a big cheat recipe but here is mine...

2-3 cans Ranch Style w/ jalapeño
2-3 cans of Bush's Country Style
2-3 cans of Bush's Grilling Beans
Cubed ham
Cubed brisket
1 inch squares of fried bacon
Chopped & Sautéed onion & bell pepper
Favorite BBQ sauce
Brown Sugar

I rarely go with the same beans every time, except for the Ranch Style w/ jalapeños...They are a must for me. If it's a big cookout with a big pit I usually just throw them on the grill with the meat...Not over flames though. Also, I like a lot of meat in these beans so I use plenty of what's listed above.
I like to add some to a bowl of white beans.

Summer Sausage

We've never kept much summer sausage around the house for whatever reason. But over the holiday's I had some great venison summer sausage that someone brought out to the deer camp. Anyone have any recommendations for brands or online specialty meat stores that you like for summer sausage?

re: Gumbo Recipe - step by step

There are many methods for gumbo. I picked a couple of recipes that I thought looked good and started practicing with a combination of the two. I've cooked a large pot of gumbo around 7-8 times now and the last three or so have been fairly consistent as I've ironed out the ratios of the ingredients. I brown sausage and add diced tasso about half way through. After pulling the sausage and tasso I brown the chicken (breast and thighs). I pull the chicken and add oil and flower for the roux. An hour and a half later, give or take, I add a bag or two of pic sweet (one of my cheats that I'm not ashamed of). Once the veggies have cooked I add store bought stock (my other cheat that I would like to get away from). I add the browned sausage and tasso and let that cook for awhile...I've done as short as an hour and as long as a few hours over low heat. I don't add the chicken back until I'm within an hour of eating...and I definitely don't cook it hard after adding the chicken. I've been pretty pleased with my results. I don't post often but picked up a lot of tips, especially regarding roux, from the food board...many thanks to all the great cooks that frequent here!

Next up is seafood gumbo which I have never tried.

Had a steak at Kreis last winter. It was top notch imo. Not sure how close it is to downtown though.

Wasn't there a picture of the two decked out in Alabama stuff?

The wife and I have been going to Newk's for lunch when we're up that way. Good sandwiches, pizza, soups and salads. I like The Oyster Bar too.

Thanks for all the replies. I have never eaten at a Brazilian steakhouse so I'll give it a shot. I'll be in town with my father for the Cowboys game and plan on taking him out for dinner the night before. I know he's definitely never been to a place like this. It will be a new experience if nothing else.

Fogo de Chao, Dallas Brazilian Steakhouse

I'm going to be in Dallas Sunday and will be staying close to this restaurant. Has anyone eaten here, or have any other recommendations for the area? I believe it is in the galleria area.

re: Bradley Dale Peveto question

He had no offensive line his first couple of years. I think he lost 3 or 4 QB's to injuries his first year. I don't think the starter that year made it through the first game either.

He is the starter now and third on the team in tackles. By the end of the season, he could lead the team in that category. As a Cowboys fan who watches every week, he has turned into one of our more reliable players. Anyway, Bradley Dale Peveto should be just fine as the Safeties coach at UK.

Cowboys fan here too. But have missed some games this year, so maybe McCray has improved more than I realized. I'll check him out this weekend...I'll be going to my first game at the new stadium.

I think Peveto will be just fine at Kentucky too. I thought NSU should have given him a couple more years. His record didn't tell the whole story.

To my knowledge he was co-defensive coordinator in title only...Mallory ran the defense. He is a pretty good recruiter with most of his contacts being in east Texas.

IMO he's a lot like Miles being that he is a good guy, loyal (to a fault sometimes), and is probably more respected in the coaching ranks than he is by the fans. He was scooped up pretty quick by Stoops.

And I wouldn't call McCray a valuable starter for the Cowboys. To me, safety was their weakest position prior to the injuries on defense. He still looks lost in coverage a lot of the time. He is good on special teams though.
The "lol" in the tweet shows that he's not taking it seriously and he's definately not butt hurt about anything. The young man is just playing around. Some on here are making a big deal out of nothing.
