Current timber prices

its cheap and unless you have several 100 acres to thin or cut you're unlikely to get a crew to do it. Pulp you're gonna get $1.50-2.00 per tom. Saw timber probably $20 and chipsaw $12-13 per ton.

LA timber prices

In most parts of the south if you don't have 100 acres you will most likely have to pay to have them hauled off. Given the acres being cleared for track housing and what not the market is awash in pine. I have people calling me almost daily who want to drop off a truck load or 5. I have so much my kids will be milling it if they ain't smart and give all of the mill to some unsuspecting moron like their daddy....

For some reason, and I can't explain it, red oak is as high as I have ever seen it right now and has been for about 2 years. $5-$6 a BF for kiln dried S4S rift and flat sawn red oak. 1/4 sawn as high as $10 a BF. I have about 10 BF left to mill...and about 3000 on hand air drying or in the kiln. Its hard on equipment though....and hard on an old man....

Loggers just finished my place 2 weeks ago.
I tried for 3 1/2 years to get my place outside Pattison, MS logged. The mills just wouldn’t take pulpwood. I ended up putting up a 4 x 8 “logger needed “ sign to generate some interest. I still had several guys turn me down before I found someone to agree to cut it. I
Did a heavy thin on 70 acres of 22 year old loblolly pines which I gave the logger all the money for. I also had 25 acres of Large pines along with sweet gums and they select cut about 25. - 30 acres of hardwoods. They left plenty of mature pines. Deer, turkey and quail habitat is my goal.

Yes, saw log prices are decent. I was referring to hardwood pulpwood.
