Apparently this turd has existing on Amazon's phone app for a while. I haven't used Amazon's website in about a month, but apparently it's been rolling out on the website over the past week.

My grievances are as follows:
-it significantly slows down the entire website
-the "search assistant" bar takes up like 25% of the screen. It actually pushes "My Cart" off of the screen, so I need to either close the bar, or scroll over on the other portion of the screen in order to click on my cart.
-you can close the AI bar, but it will pop up next time you search for something
-the only way to remove the AI search assistant appears to be installing an app called "Adios Alexa", which obviously is not something backed by Amazon. I will not be doing this.

I've been using Walmart+ more and more over the past year. I'm using an IPTV, so I have no use for Amazon Prime streaming. I can't cancel my annual membership outright, but I set it to not renew in December. This was the last straw.

The only good news is that I just discovered that I was paying $5/month for commercial free Prime (which I wasn't using). And I thought that Prime was only $100/year (it's $140). So this trash AI assistant is now saving me $200/year.

ETA: Apologies if this has been discussed already. I googled it and didn't see any mention on this site.

It’s a business. Everything they show you is intentional and typically has very little respect for what you asked for unless your query aligns with their balance sheet.

I haven't even noticed it until this evening, where I was searching for air filters.

You give money to one of the biggest corps in the world, then steal content to save your wife's monthly coffee budget. Huzzah?
