Whooo Hooo! My turn to fly now...

Have traveled extensively during my career, but haven't since last year before the shite hit the fan.
For those that have flown recently, what are you seeing in airports/planes these days? Tips on minimizing exposure to the 'rona? I get the mask and wiping down parts. Are people wearing eye protection also like goggles or shields?
Thanks!

Some ppl are wearing face shields.
I just tried to avoid removing my mask and keeping social distance inside airport. Hand washing is a good thing.

I had asked similar questions after labor day travel and got a few responses in this thread that may be helpful LINK
Thanks! Recall that one earlier.

genpop is as nasty and disgusting as ever.
wear your mask, wash your hands, bring a pack of Clorox wipes, stay on the periphery of lines and groups. Honestly the airlines are doing a good job

I flew out of BR on Delta last weekend. Smaller plane. I was back in general population. 2 seats on each side of the aisle. I had a seat mate. Ugh! A guy with very broad shoulders. I leaned on the window most of the flight. He was very nice and he wore his mask for the short flight except when he was eating.
On the return flight I had no seat mate.
Also, upon entering the plane a flight attendant will hand you a packaged wipe to wipe down your area. There is also a one use Purell in your snack bag with small bottled water and snacks.
Most people in the airport wore their masks properly. Both in BR and in ATL.
Social distancing wasn't really a problem in airports.

Friend,
If you have access to an N99 or N100 respirator, I would use it. Failing that, a tight fitting N95 with a three ply surgical mask covering the N95 would be best. Keep on your mask at all times in the airport and especially in flight. I wish the airlines did not hand out any drinks or food, because so many take off their masks during this time, needlessly putting others at risk.
You might consider a full hazmat suit, but I have found these suits make my fellow travelers feel uncomfortable. As a result, last month I stopped wear full body suits and started wearing the respirator, form fitting goggles, a face shield, and gloves, which I change several times, probably once an hour.
I am sure to bring my own disinfecting wipes to wipe down my entire row, seat in front of me, and luggage overhead bin if traveling with a carry on. Very crucial too is extensive hand washing in warm water as often as possible. Hand washing should go from elbow to fingers if wearing a short sleeved shirt. Wash like a surgeon before surgery and feel confident your hands are not hosting a lethal virus.
Keeping as far away from others as often as possible is smart. The odds of getting a respiratory virus if following these steps should be low. In all these actions, the goal is mitigating risk. These actions do not guarantee you will not get a virus, Satan’s invisible swarm, but in life it is all about lowering the odds. Each of my above recommendations will lower your odds of getting sick. The more people that join in these good hygienic practices, the more the odds will be in all of our favor.
My prayers are with you. I have flown eight times since May. Initially it is daunting, but with the appropriate precautions, it seems relatively safe.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Last week I flew for the first time since the pandemic exploded.
- Shortest security lines ever! No wait at either airport. My home airport is SEA, so I am used to 30-45 minute waits at times.
- most airport restaurants and stores were closed
- no food or alcohol service on flight. Limited beverage service and snack only
- mask requirement at airport and on plane, expect when eating or drinking
I brought a small bottle of alcohol disinfectant spray and a pack of disinfectant wipes to clean my seating area, which worked well. I flew on Alaska, which like many airlines are not booking the middle seats.

People like you are exhausting. I’m not even taking a political stance, but those who see a thread and think “how can I insult people who think differently from me?” must live a miserable life.

And you follow it up with some lame arse gif. Nice job

I live a great life just not in fear. I have flown 4X since 7/4 and see no need to wipe down the seat before sitting in it so I will leave the Purell packet for you and your gina.

I’ve also flown four times in the same timeframe. I have no problem flying.
Just think it’s ridiculous to go out of the way to try and get a jab at people you disagree with. Seems like a reach. Although I guess that’s what the internet is for at this point.
