Where do you stop on the way to Disney World?

Those of you who drive it with young kids (say 6 and 3) from the BR area. I'm thinking Pensacola and Lake City, plus one more unplanned stop. Each stop being 20-30 min tops for fuel, restrooms, and food. How do y'all do it?

We always drive through the night, so typically only stops for fuel and restroom. Everyone is normally sleeping except for the driver (me).

had family off 30A. we would drive there in the morning. stay spend the night there and explore for the evening and then make the rest of the trip in the morning.

not saying to stay at 30A but with kids it might be worth just getting a hotel and wearing them out the night before the final leg

This is what we did. Leave around the kids bedtime. Drive in shifts. Get to "The World" as the kids are waking up. Profit from being magicical parents and having the little ones waking up to Mickey.

We travel at night also. We tend to leave around 7 the night before and usually arrive around 7 the next morning. We like to eat at the Cracker Barrel in Orlando for breakfast when we arrive. I stop twice for restroom breaks and to top off on gas on the way.

We usually stop in Tallahassee and change our clocks when we stop that way we don't lose the hour the nest morning.

I know it doesn't make a difference but I'd rather lose it before I go to bed than when I wake up. Arrival day (if we drive) we usually hang out at the resort, go swimming, unpack then head over to Fort Wilderness for the campfire, singalong and movie under the stars with Chip and Dale (totally free)

This is kinda what I did. I'd leave a bit later to get to Kissimmee ~9:00 am and then drop them at the park with their lovely mother and go check in and sleep until late afternoon.

We leave New Orleans and drive to Gainsville, spend the night at a hotel right off the interstate and then drive the morning into Orlando for a full day in the park. Our kids are 8,6 and 4 and we have done this the last 2 years.

Or drive through the night, but, i don't like hitting the parks on no sleep.

We do the drive through the night method too. Try to arrive at our hotel at about 5-6 am and check in, unpack and catch the bus to whatever park. The value resorts get crapped on a lot but I love the fact they have always let us check in early. I know they don’t let everyone since it depends on capacity but we’ve lucked out 6 years running.

As for as stops if we get there in time there is a Stuckey’s at I10 exit 28 Milton FL that has a Dairy Queen and Chevron gas. It gives my daughter something to do while we get gas and stretch. She loves to look through all of the junk.

Also exit 258 Madison Fl has an Exxon or Mobil station with a Wendy’s, Subway and Ice cream place in it. It’s very clean also.

I never thought Disney was so far that I had to take two days.

Anything between San Antonio and Miami I am doing in one day.

I had a friend who went to Syracuse, he would make the drive from Metairie to Syracuse non-stop. 23 hours. I never had that ability. 12-13 hours is my limit.

Recently did the drive with the family. We left at 3 am from New Orleans stopping in Pensacola after the kids woke up to eat and get gas. Stopped again in Lake City. Got to Disney around 3.

W're usually 12 hours (clock time - 11 hours travel time) door to door as well but rather than leaving early in the morning we prefer to leave the afternoon/evening the day before so our arrival day is not a total waste.

You don't HAVE to break the drive up but rather than sitting in my house the day before my vacation I'd rather be getting closer to my destination.

Only stop once total for maybe 30 minutes. Lunch, gas, and bathroom all during that one stop. My kids were 7 & 4.

We drove from the New Orleans area all the way into Orlando last January with a 3 years old an 18-month old. We stopped at the FL Welcome Center for about 30 minutes. Then we grabbed lunch in Tallahassee. We stopped again at Busy Bee just outside of Live Oak, FL (just before catching I-75). The place is new with very clean and spacious bathroom facilities. Took care of the bathroom needs, gassed up and grabbed some snacks. Then drove all the way into Orlando from there.
