What would be the ideal 16 day road trip with your family (2 adults + 3 small kids) ?

Seems daunting to travel past the Rockies and back Clark Griswold style unless you have a few weeks time to play with. What would your ideal trip be like?

Like Percy Quinn with 3 kids. Drive 2 hours and stay for 14 days. Go out on the kayak every day and drink and fish

Dropping the kids off at the grandparents house an hour away then driving somewhere and staying for 14 days.

I don’t like being stuck in my own house with my kids for more than a 3 day weekend much less a road trip for 16 days!

I can’t imagine a scenario where that would be fun for anyone involved

Where are you leaving from? How much $ do you have to spend? What do y’all enjoy?

Y'all are making me feel less bad about the amount of apprehension I have about this.

One of them will get sick, then you'll all get sick, and you'll have to get home from what is presumably a long-distance road trip.

Man this is why everyone with your family size just goes to the beach and cooks a pack of hotdogs on the grill.

Baton Rouge. I'm not rich. I like baseball. My kids enjoy playing Roblox.

I'd like to go out west into some scenic territory. I'm considering flying to Colorado for a couple of days of camping, and then taking the Zephyr, with a stop at Utah, go to Lake Tahoe, then deep into California, and then flying back. The logistics of it probably doesn't make sense with 3 kids.

Damn. Y’all are miserable. My pops took me and my brother the day we got out of school when I was 7 and he was 9 and came back the day before school got back. Took us all around the us stopping to trout fish and go to baseball games along the way, hitting as many national parks and baseball stadiums we could. It’s still the best summer of my life. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

We did a 12 dat road trip from BR to NM and Southern Colorado (Durango, Ouray, Telluride) last year and had a great time. Two kids ages 7 and 11
