Delta or United domestically. Internationally, for the places I travel, Star Alliance always has the best price/routes and I've never had any problems. They're all pretty much the same and I look for a 767 or A330 (when you're married, the middle seat becomes an inevitability). I try to avoid Lufthansa due to the food and the lack of AC on most of their planes.

Honestly - whatever airline has the best fare for a good route. They will all screw you at some point.
For the US I like Delta, followed by Southwest. And I avoid American at a large premium.
For international - almost completely depends on fare. In the past it was business, now it's mostly premium economy. I have used: Copa many times, they are OK but nothing special at all, but business is very reasonable for South America. LATAM - meh. Avianca - meh. Aerolineas Argentinas - garbage. Turkish - better than average experience. American - very good on international business, avoid otherwise. Air New Zealand - love their sky couch, it beats the pants off of buying first class, good airline. Delta - premium economy to Australia - meh at best. Zipair - love them for business (economy Japanair flyer). British - hugely disappointed in them. Quantas - hugely disappointed in them. Virgin Australia - thumbs up. Pakistan International Airlines - LOL. SKY (Chile) - pretty good, actually.
In 3 weeks I'm finally going Singapore for LAX to Singapore. Premium economy which is the lowest class on the plane. Solo seat on each side, next to the last row. 17 hours. That will be interesting.

Lufthansa AC differs greatly based on where you are sitting. I volunteered to move back a few rows in biz but I had the privacy screen in front of our row, which cut AC flow (777 I think) cut by 30%. And my IFE was busted, all so o could sit next to my buddy who slept the entire flight.
Gate agents have been far slower than using the apps to rebook yourself for a decade. Not having agents is not a detriment. When you travel international a lot of agents won’t show up until three hours before the flight to check people in, and there are two of them. I went in and out of the EU four times in the same airport as I kept getting sent outside security, inside security, etc. I went to the same immigration agent three times before he noticed.

Domestic it doesn't really seem to matter these days but internationally I always had good experiences with KLM and Qatar Airways

Spirit if flying south.
United if flying east.
British Airways if flying to Europe.
SouthWest if flying west.
I try to avoid layovers.

The Qatari gov't likes terrorists more than most.

Among the big carriers it doesn't matter domestically, they all have issues. Whatever is most direct with reasonable layovers if necessary. I will pay a good deal more for direct at this point, probably 30% more. Also, fly early in the morning as well.

How much longer does that take you than going over the Pacific?
about the same if flying from the East coast.
LA to doha to BKK adds a few hours, but worth it.

I’ve never had issues with United. I like delta

Delta
I know AA and UA get a lot of hate...but I fortunately haven't had too terrible of issues with them.

I am the guy that has eaten 19 terrible sandwiches trying to get the 20th free sandwich...
I should hit 1,000,000 million with United this year...I have been Global Services to Silver over the years....
At about 200k on American, and used to fly Northwestern alot in the 90s...
I think all US airlines are the same, it just comes down to status. If you have status better the experience. Also, hubs make a big difference if something goes wrong. You do not want to be on United in Dallas if something goes wrong as your options are limited.
As for international airlines, Singapore still is the best to me when it comes to service, staff, experience.
I like ANA also when I have flown with them. I only flew them once in business class but Turkish airlines was great.
I was disappointed with Emirates as it did not live up to the hype that others have told me. Dont get me wrong, still a lot better than any of the US or European carriers, but was hoping for more.

Depends on where Im going and flight options.
Out of Houston its either United or SW
- United for lack of pre-boarders and potential first class upgrades
- Southwest for rewards points. Almost a free one way every roundtrip
IAH is a fricking mess right now and after my last trip back and it taking 30m to get an Uber, I've sworn off flying back into IAH until they finish. I'll split my flights. United out and Southwest back in.
