Now that relations between the governments are suddenly not strained anymore, Americans and Canadians can apply for an easy E-visa and I have a friend who has already visited on it confirming it’s a quick turnaround. Past few years, you had to go to Mexico on multiple trips just to get the visa.

I plan to visit later this year as a result. The Department of State has also dropped Venezuela from Level 4 to Level 3 travel advisory.

Yep because most of the women in Colombia are Venezuelans (P4P), at least the best looking ones are.

I'm sure this is facetious, but I have talked to several people on the ground there since Maduro was taken. They say Caracas is totally safe with regard to street crime.

Appears to cost about $180, and the entire application is currently all in Spanish so beware.

Now? The economic opportunity is going to be off the charts for the next 10 years or so. I believe that any young, enterprising person (especially if they speak Spanish) can really make something happen if they go down there with an open mind.

I just started looking into taking a trip to Angel Falls and remembered this thread.

I didn’t see a way to translate the EVisa website to English, and I have also heard several documents have to be sent. Bank statements, etc. Sounds like a pain in the arse.

Isn't Angel Falls really difficult to get to? I mean, besides the political stuff.

It’s remote and takes time, but I don’t mind all that. Just having a complicated visa process that costs $180 and doesn’t even have an English version of the website is ridiculous.

You can probably take pictures of each page and feed to a ai chatbot and have it tell you what each field is and help you translate your answer back to Spanish pretty easily

I did that when I initially looked at it. It’s still a pain in the arse, and it’s the principle of it as much as anything.

If it were a token visa process that would be one thing. But for $180 and supposedly a bunch of required documentation, at least have an English version.
