Vegas trip with my dad. Need some ideas

Dad (59) recently retired. Taking him to Vegas for 4th of July weekend. Neither of us have ever been but it’s always been a bucket list trip. Looking for recs on things him and I (32) can do.
We both play poker and plan to play some cash games and likely a tournament. Are there’s any shows we would be interested in? Restaurant ideas? Probably wont do much “clubbing” given the age gap here
ETA: staying about a mile from the strip. Will have free shuttle access to and from.

Go eat at the steak house inside Circus Circus. Lots of Mob bosses called this place home back in the day. Go downtown as well. Very cool.

The best show on the Strip is Absinthe. (Caesar’s)
Cosmo has a great collection of restaurants.
Idk if you can get out of your reservation, but you’re going to hate staying a mile from the Strip.
Distances in Vegas are deceiving. If it looks close, it still could be a really long walk. Wear comfortable shoes.

Cash games/Tournaments would be Bellagio, South Point, Wynn, Red Rock.
Restaurants: Gordon Ramsay Burger, Secret Pizza at the Cosmo, Eggslut.
Topgolf at MGM Grand.

It’s a free suite so I couldn’t pass it up. Has a shuttle running every 15 mins to and from Strip so were gonna make it work.

These have 1/2 or 1/3 tables? We aren’t high rollers. Don’t want to blow my gambling budget the first night

Download an app called Bravo Poker. It will list the casinos with live games going and their limits. Should list what days their tournaments are and buy-ins.
Edit: Get a monorail pass to get around as well. MGM has a free one that connects their properties (Aria to Bellagio, Mandalay to Luxor to Excalibur)

Absinthe great show if dad isnt uptight.
If you like magic shin lim show is hard to beat.
Keep in mind it will be brutally hot in july. You wont want to be outside much.

Can’t stress comfortable shoes enough. Hit Old Vegas Fremont Street and Golden Nugget.

Yes. Wynn poker room (at Encore) has a 1/3 game going on pretty much 24/7.

I've played several daily tournaments at Bellagio. They have a large poker room and it's fun. The World Series of Poker is going on when you are there. I'd check the list of events and see if one fits your schedule. I'm going in a couple of weeks and will be playing in one of the early, less costly buy in events.

I’ll second the steak house in circus circus, ate there on Christmas night last year, very good meal. The casino is a complete dump but restaurant was legit

I suggest that every first time Vegas visitor do some version of the following:
Things to do on your first trip to Vegas
1. Walk the Strip. Pop into casinos and look around. Drop a $20 in slots all along the way. Sign up for their players cards.
2. Have drinks in a cool bar. Relax and people watch! I love the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmo, Petrossian at the Bellagio, Rhumbar at Mirage, The Overlook Lounge at the Wynn (used to be Parasol Up).
3. See Vegas from up high. There’s lot of options. High Roller, Foundation Room, The Palms, Voodoo Lounge, 107 Sky Lounge. I like the 107 on top of the Stratosphere. Hit it up in the late afternoon for happy hour on the way to Fremont Street.
4. Fremont Street. See the old hotels and pop into some places for a little cheaper table games or better odds. The El Cortez is sort of a dive, but it’s got great blackjack rules. See the Golden Nugget, the 4 Queens, Binions, etc. and all that neon and flash. If you’ve been to Bourbon St., Fremont is sort of similar. He might enjoy the Mob Museum.
5. See a show. It could be a Cirque extravaganza, a concert, a play/musical, a tribute show. Just pick what you like. Absinthe might be good. Or Love or Michael Jackson One, if he likes either of those.
6. Make a reservation and have a really nice dinner. Options abound. Don’t do your dinner the night you do the show. That way, you’re not rushed. I know I hear good things about the Steakhouse at Circus Circus, but I’d rather not walk through Circus Circus. If I’m choosing something away from the strip, it’s Herbs and Rye, Noras, Battista’s. Battista’s might be fun. You can stop by the Stage Door for cheap beers on the way there or back.
7. If it’s summer, have a pool day.
8. See the Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory.
Just because your dad it 59 and seems old to you...he's not old. He's probably up for most things.
Sorry that you're not on the strip. I understand free. But it's a pain.

If you want to do something off strip, check out the Red Rock loop. It's a 15 mile loop around the canyon and pretty damn awesome if you enjoy stuff like that.

Mob Museum is a good time.
He might also like the pinball hall of fame.

Was there last week. For poker, I recommend Bally’s 75 dollar tournaments and MGM Grand for 1-2 NL cash.
