Yeah, not much can be done about that, but as soon as they are open, there's zero chance I let some BS warning like the above stop me from going.

This. We've been to Mexico twice in the last 6 months and heading to USVI in May. Also looking at Cabo in July. I'd love to go other places right now but it's hard with some of the requirements other countries are putting in place. You just have to do research and pick the right spots for now. But nothing is restricting me actually traveling and having vacations other than the 'where'.

But that’s what pisses me off. The more “warnings” are sent out, the harder it makes to travel. And if I will only be visiting a certain place once in my life, I’d want to be sure everything is open/available.

We're heading to Costa Rica in July, and they're pretty much wide open.

I'll be there in 3 weeks. A friend is a professional guide there and he says that the country has mostly ignored covid for a while. And that the testing for the return flight is no problem. A supplemental medical policy is required on arrival, it pays to shop around for that and buy in advance. Costa Rica is one of the best options right now.

No one is listening to this advice. I'm vaccinated and moving my life forward. And I don't think it's a ruiner at all. Even during the heights of COVID I had a good time (Lake Tahoe). Masks suck, but don't head somewhere like a major city that's indoor dependent. Off to Croatia this summer. Sure, they don't allow indoor dining but why the frick would I eat inside in Croatia?

I'm trying to visit Europe as well. I read that Croatia won't let you in unless you have proof of a full, paid-for itinerary. I was hoping to play it by ear once I got over there, but I guess I can plan it out. How are you handling this? Any other restrictions to be wary of?

I'm also thinking of Serbia and some of the other countries around there.

My daughter was supposed to study abroad with her college this summer — Italy. Got deferred to next year. Hoping it goes through as I think it’s her last chance.

My brother spent some time in Serbia after the air war and loved it. It was very cheap, and you could live like a king.

I have my accomodations booked but not paid for yet. There's really no need to push it further until closer to the trip, since rules are subject to change. I booked some high end hotels due to not going overseas for awhile and having another kid soon, so paying in advance is a little worrisome. There's a Croatia Viber channel where people from all over post their entry experiences. Sounds like the accommodation check is spotty.

One idea I had was to pay out a $20 a night hostel as insurance

Besides testing/vaccination requirements and submitting the "Enter Croatia" form (I think not absolutely required just speeds things up) there aren't too many pitfalls.

The main issue to watch is flights being canceled, airline personnel not familiar with entry requirements, and what airport you connect to before Croatia. Some airports require PCR tests from everyone to transit even if Croatia doesn't to enter. Those are the continental European ones. Go through Istanbul instead to avoid.

Croatia, like many countries is having a peak right now, but I feel good about the summer.
