Two days in Scotland - Any recs?

Previously had planned a day in Scotland and then a couple of days driving down through England to Heathrow but my business trip got extended. I wrap in London on Friday around lunch and don't fly out until Monday morning from Heathrow.
Thinking about jumping a regional jet up to Glasgow or Edinburgh and spending Fri night, all day Sat and then flying back down to Heathrow Sun night for a Monday departure.
Any suggestions on this? I haven't been to the UK before and will be in England all around the country the week before.

Definitely Edinburgh over Glasgow. That is a good amount of time to explore the city and surrounding area.

I've been to both. Edinburgh for sure . Walk the longest mile and end up at the castle . Lots of history .

Deff Edinburgh. Do the Scotch Experience near the castle. Royal Mile, and check out the Bow Bar for live music.

Edinburgh for sure, lots to see and do.
If you had a little longer you could hire a car to take you out to Stirling and Loch Lomond NP to see some countryside and sort of "Highlands foothills" (see a Loch, some church ruins, a Highland cow, etc.) if so inclined. It's doable as a day trip. That said, Edinburgh is worth more than 1-2 days, so I'd only recommend it if you're probably never going back to Scotland.

Take a ride out in the country and see a hairy coo . Cool looking cows and I hated haggis .

The Highlands of Northern Scotland is worthy of your consideration. The city of Inverness, Loch Ness, etc.

Just did eight days in Scotland three weeks ago.
Edinburgh>>Glasgow - Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, National Museum of Scotland (I spent 4.5hrs here and had to rush at the end to get to the castle for my entry time).
Inverness, Loch Ness, and the surrounding countryside was awesome.
Fort William, closer to Glasgow, is your nature lover's/hiker's area.
The Glencoe Valley, which lies S of Fort William has some of the most amazing views I've ever seen and they go on forever.
If I ever make it back to Scotland, I will definitely see more of the Highlands, especially the Glencoe Valley.

Go to Edinburg as most have said. Train ride to St. Andrews is not long and worth seeing. Don't eat the haggis.

OK. Delta is futzing with my flights and Saturday will be my only full day in Scotland.
I want to see the Highlands and drink a scotch whisky in a small town bar.
Rent a car?
Hire a car?
Do a tour?
What's the best play here?

If you only have one day then soak up Edinburgh. But if you’re determined, hire a car and head to the Dalwhinnie distillery. Best scotch, in the highlands, and about a 3 hour drive.

Pitlochry. More Scotch distilleries per capita then anywhere else, great little town and hiking the moors is transcendent. Whole place smells of peat.

If this is what you want to do the go to the Speedwell Inn in the city of Dundee. Met amazing people there in 2017… went back in 2019 and they met us at the bar.
Another fun option that is a short flight would be Belfast. Had an incredible time there (yes I know it isn’t Scotland).
Edinburgh will be a blast for just two days.

Two days is the minimum to do Edinburgh right. Glasgow is bigger and has more stuff to do (nightlife, etc), but Edinburgh has more history.
See both Old Town and New Town. For Old Town, start at Edinburgh Castle then walk the Royal Mile down to Holyrood Palace. Eat some haggis.
