Any suggestions on hotels, preferably in walking distance to the downtown strip?

Also would love suggestions on places to eat.

I have not been in years. Wife and I are making a trip for about three days.

There are several good hotels clustered together just a couple of blocks away from the heart of lower Broadway. We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites which is at the corner of 4th Ave South and Korean Veterans Blvd. Across 4th (between 4th and 5th) is the Omni. Between 4th and 3rd is a Hyatt Place. Between 4th and 3rd on the other side of Korean Vets is a Hilton Garden.

From any of those places you are 2 - 3 blocks from Broadway, with Demonbreun between the hotels and Broadway.

CMHoF is on Demonbreun between 4th and 5th. Bridgestone sits on the block formed by Demonbreun, Broadway, 5th & 6th. Schermerhorm is the corner of Demonbreun and 4th. The Ryman is between 4th & 5th just the other side of Broadway.

Foodwise, we liked Jack's BBQ on Broadway, but others here say skip it. The Loveless Café is worth the drive.

Wife and I did a 3 day trip back in December. Here's some information I posted in a different Nashville thread:

If you're thinking about an AirBnB for Nashville, I'd look at East Nashville. Very close to downtown and near lots of good bars and restaurants. If you're wanting to go the hotel route, check out the Thompson.

Some people will recommend you go to Husk for dinner - can't discourage that enough. I was completely underwhelmed by the food. The space was nice though.

Hattie B's was good for hot chicken, others say Prince's. I have a feeling you can't go wrong either way.

We went to Peg Leg Porker for BBQ and it was excellent. Although there's definitely more than one place to go for BBQ in Nashville.

Marche was an excellent breakfast spot.

My two favorite breweries that I either went to or had multiple samples from were Southern Grist and Bearded Iris. I thought Yazoo was overrated.

The Greenbriar distillery is really interesting and they give tours and tastings for fairly cheap. I really enjoyed that.

There are also some great coffee places - Barista Parlor and Killebrew Coffee specifically.

And I hadn't mentioned originally but Bar No. 308 had really great cocktails.

find the post 'nashville and charleston, sc, 5 days total' by 632627 that he posted on 2/13/18 for some current comments about Nashville.

It is on page 3 of the Travel Board; 6 pm on 2/23.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn downtown twice, the one PJinAtl referenced, and it is a typical Hampton. I would recommend it. We stayed at a Hampton at Goodlettsville once, to save hotel expense, but if you plan on doing the downtown attractions the extra cost is worth it for the convenience of being near the action.

We ate at Sole Mio, which is a ½ block to the east of the hotel and the food was good but I thought it was expensive for the quantity. It is Italian food.

I see on Google Earth that there is a Martin’s BBQ Joint about ½ block down 4th Street from the Hampton. We ate at one of those outside of town and it was good. Triple D did a show there so I wanted to try it.

We wanted to go to The Southern Steak & Oyster Restaurant but it was so crowded that we could not get in. It is located at the corner of 3rd and Demonbreun St. I have no idea if it is good but a lot of people were there to eat and drink.

We also ate at Bluesboro Rhythm & Blues at 2nd and Malloy St. (but it may have had a different name then) They had live music and bar food. I think we had wings and burgers. It was fun and it is a few blocks off of Broadway, so it was a little different atmosphere than the places on B'way.

We went to the Opryland Hotel and that's worth seeing but we had to pay $25 to park. We ate at a chain restaurant there and that was a mistake. Should have tried the Caney Fork River Valley Grille across the highway - they say they serve southern fried specialties and wild game dishes.

Between this and my other post that is about all I know about Nashville.

Either stay at the Downtown Hilton which is right by Broadway, titans stadium , the bridge yuh can walk across , etc or if you plan on going to any bars on Printers Alley stay at the Hampton in 4th street. It’s not too far from Broadway either and can take in some blues music on printers alley and stagger across the street to the Hampton . lol

Live here. Flyte is a great upscale restaurant. Hotels in downtown are expensive. I’d just stay at the Hilton. You get 50% off if you bang the Mayor during your stay.

Probably need to give us a budget idea. Most hotels downtown are $150 to $300 night at that time of year. Lot’s for restaurants to choose from. Are you a BBQ fan? A foodie? Enjoy wine?

If you are on Broadway...you have to eat BBQ at Jack's.

Edley's is a great bar b que place. Maggiano's for Italian food. Go to a Preds game if they are playing at home, you WON'T be disappointed. The nashville Sounds are a minor league baseball team in Nashville with a brand new stadium. You can get outfield seats for $7 day of the game

Stayed at Thompson a few weeks ago for a long weekend trip. Liked it as far as hotels go. It’s a little further from the downtown music scene...close enough to walk but we took Uber for convenience. It’s in a trendy little area with restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

We ate at Edley's last weekend. Got the brisket, and pork tacos. I thought it was really good, but I am no bbq snob.

We also ate at Bolton's Hot Chicken, and it was great. HOT hot chicken. Best green beans I've ever eaten in my life too.

We hit up Southern Grist, Smith and Lentz, and Bearded Iris as well. All excellent.
