Things to do in Myrtle Beach

Going to Myrtle Beach over Mardi Gras holidays. Any tips on things to do or places to eat are much appreciated. It's a surprise trip for my wife, as neither of us have ever been. Looks like the weather is typically pretty cold staying around the 60's during February.
Staying 4 days. One thing I wanted to do was drive to Congaree National Park, but it looks like it's about a 3 hour drive.
TIA

Flying Fish public market at Barefoot Landing was a great place to eat fresh fish. Other than that golf is great there.

Murrel's Inlet has some great food/drink (we love Dead Dog Saloon). The Skywheel. Broadway at the Beach.

About 5 miles south of Murrells Inlet is Huntington Beach State Park and across the highway is Brookgreen Gardens. Anna Hyatt Huntington was a well know sculptor and her house/studio, called Atalaya Castle, is at HBSP. She and her husband owned the land that is now Brookgreen Gardens and it has a lot of her works. They also have a small zoo and in the summer have boat trips but I don't know about this time of year.
At Murrells Inlet there is a line of restaurants next to the marsh and they have a boardwalk, think they call it the marshwalk, that connects them. When it's warm there are usually a few bands playing on the decks facing the marsh.
A few restaurants we like.
Sea Captain's House, at 3002 N Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach
Toscana Italian Kitchen, 2703 N King Hwy, MB
Toffino's Italian Bakery, Deli, Pizza, 550 Farrow Pkey, MB; it's near the airport.
A little farther north is The Carolina Opry Theater and next to it is Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show. The Opry show used to be entertaining but we haven't been in many year.
A little north of that is Barefoot Landing and there's a House of Blues, Alabama Theater, and lot of restaurants.
If you go to Congaree NP go via Hemingway, SC if you like BBQ and eat at Scotts. It's his original location and is frequently ranked as one of the top BBQ places in the US. It's not a mustard based sauce; some SC BBQ is.
This is good time of the year to go to MB, IMO, as it is not crowded, and hotels are cheap. Unless you want to swim or sit on the beach; probably too cool for that.

I’d also recommend driving across the state line to eat in Calabash NC one night. Seafood there is as good as it gets.

Good stuff. Thanks everyone. I will definitely add these restaurants to my watch list and the places to my to do list.
We might go see the beach one of the days. I know it will be cold but since neither of us have been to the true east coast would be nice to check out.

The Skywheel is right on the beach, two birds one stone.

You missed out on many other great areas if you were looking for coastal places in NC. Myrtle Beach goes by Dirty Myrtle for a reason.

Skip it and drive 2 hours south to Charleston.

Myrtle Beach: Where middle America comes to take its shirt off.

Besides seeing the beach, there isn’t much else to do in MB. Charleston has more things to do but it’s more expensive so that’s the trade off. The hotels in Charleston average $400-$500 a night so it’s definitely pricier

Our family camped at Lakewood for our vacations since 1975 and my elderly parents lived in Surfside from 2015 - 2023. Myrtle Beach isn't the family friendly place it used to be. The grand strand and surroundings are hot garbage in the busy seasons. A lot of gang activity in that area so be aware.
As someone else mentioned Murrels Inlet is nice and has many restaurants, gift shops and beautiful scenery of the marsh and is a short drive from MB. A lot of the fishing industry is out of there and there are several fresh seafood markets at Murrels Inlet.
A little further south is Pawleys Island and a few places I would recommend there are Frank's, Rustic Table and Bistro 217. There's also a cool collection of shops called the Hammock Shop Village. A drive on the island also has several historical sites and buildings that are worth seeing.
If you go north Calabash is another great little place to visit and eat. We like Beck's which is one of the original Calabash style restaurants.
There's plenty to do in and around MB so enjoy and have fun!
