Pls keep the food recs coming. We will be staying with a friend in East Downtown, so stuff on that side of town is appreciated.

Midtown has some solid bars. Little Woodrows, 3rd Floor, Gaslamp, Dogwood, Doghouse Tavern, Howl at the Moon are all within a couple blocks of each other and usually have very attractive females patronizing them

Kanomwan for Thai.

Order S1 for soup and H1beef for entree

I worked in Thailand for a bit and this is the best Thai food I’ve had since I was there

Bumping this old thread.

Any recommended bars in the Heights for a 40 year old married couple getting away for the weekend?

Will want to watch the LSU game, but I'm expecting Christian's Tailgate and Little Woodrow's to be over-packed considering it's a big game.

Slap mosquitos, breathe in cancer, replace electrolytes, drive a mile in 20 minutes, go to Rothko capel.

McIntyre’s should be a good time. If you’re a saints fan, the boot is fun on Sundays

Heights Bier Garden probably won't get too crowded for the game.

There's a bunch of bars on 20th. If McIntyre's isn't your type, The Boot, Providence, or Cedar Creek are some to give a shot, too.

Hay Merchant, Kirby Ice House, Cottonwood, La Grange, Goodnight Charlies, Heights Bier Garden, Wooster's Garden, Saint Arnold's Beer Garden

Couple of these are in the Heights...but this a decent list of bars that don't suck.

8th Row Flint. Especially with the weather expected Saturday. Good food as well. But better food next door at Calle Onze. Early dinner at Calle Onze and drinks on the patio at 8th Row for LSU game is how I’d spend my Saturday if I weren’t heading to BR.

Another option for versatility is 19/20th street

McIntyres is a blast but will be very crowded. It’s a Michigan State Alumni bar and they have a big game Saturday afternoon. It will be crowded from 2:30 til. And their food options is simply a food truck. But other good options on 19/20th that you can walk to. All completely different.

The Boot - Louisiana Bar
Wicklow - cool patio, only one big TV
Bungalow Heights - Little bit of everything
Big Star - Goat dive bar
Cedar Creek - nice outdoor vibe

Be aware - Woodrow’s and Christians might be your best bet if LSU game is priority. Game 1 of ALCS starts same time as LSU. Most TVs will have the Stros on

Wow I hadn’t thought of that, thanks for the heads up
