Any suggestions.

Love live music. Any recommendations on restaurants, live music, bars or just cool shops to visit?

The Voltaggio brother had a restaurant there that was really good. They are both from that area as I recall but one may still be there.

Cool downtown Main Street thing. It’s a nice place.

last time we went, we just walked up and down main street. the wife thought all the shops were cool. most places had live music outside, and when we heard something we liked, we stopped for a beer or two. had a great time.

Cabernet Grill is a great place. Chicken fried rib eye is a killer dish. Many top notch options. Beautiful setting and venue. Lukenbach is only 10 miles from Fredricksburg and they always have music. Hondo's on Main has music and good food too.

I assume you're asking about Fredericksburg TX - I can also make some recommendations for Fredericksburg VA. But, in Fredericksburg TX one great place to eat is Otto's German Bistro.

My suggestion is to walk Main street, you can have an open container, check out some shops and the Nimitz Museum and then get out of town. I am not a fan of Fredericksburg as it is overrun with tourists. I go to my brother's inlaws ranch 15 minutes from Fredericksburg all the time and rarely go into town unless I need to hit the HEB. Like others said, Luchenbach is about 15 minutes away but that is just a tourist trap too. About 10 minutes from Luckenbach, down Old San Antonio Rd (which is a nice drive from Hwy 290 headed south to Comfort. You can also head west at the Sisterdale cutoff (their is a wine tasting room and bbq joint in sisterdale) and go through Kendalia to Blanco....nice drives) is a place called Bankersmith Texas that has live music, food and even has 8 rooms where you can spend the night. Just down the road is a great burger at Alamo Springs which is adjacent to Old Tunnel State Park. Then a little bit further is Cartoon Saloon which is kitschy but fun to have a beer. Comfort is a nice little town, Highs Cafe has some good lunch food and nice outdoor area. There is a Distillery and Winery just down the footpath from Highs that has live music. Comfort Pizza is good but you have to order the day before to insure they make enough dough for you, its very small town. Hye is another up and coming small town about 15-20 minutes from Fredericksburg. There is a Cidery there that is good and Garrison Bros Distillery which is on a big ranch and worth checking out.

Hye is where the William Chris Winery is located. They have some pretty good wine and a pretty setting.

While I don't totally disagree with Zappa about things being touristy, it's also mostly not as bad as he described it, unless you just want to be completely away from people. There are a lot of tasting rooms in Fredericksburg. Just roam around till something suits your fancy.

I like to stay in one of the Airbnbs that are a bit out. You can be totally out of town in 5-10 minutes. It's nice to stay at a place with a firepit, bring your wine you bought back and hang out by the fire with some wine and cheese. The night sky out there is gorgeous!

If you like old cars, go to Street Dreams of Texas. They do not mind tourists.

We use FBerg as a home base for day trips to Llano, Kerrville, Comfort, Mason. Spend the afternoon with some wine and have a nice dinner. If someone good is playing at Albert Dancehall, we’ll make that drive back east. Kids always want to go to Gibson’s in Kerrville. Main Street in FBerg is pretty touristy, but that’s ok. Some people like that.

I had the best steak of my life at the Cabernet Grill, need to call for reservations but you won't find a better meal while there imo.
