I’ve gotten decent prices (for Boston) at the Seaport Hotel.

Abita, my mom lives in Somerville near Beacon and Washington. Want to take her (and three others) to dinner on 6/22 or 6/23 and looking for a casual, inventive, lively, shared plates menu.
Would prefer to stay on that side of the Charles, but can head over to North End, Seaport, etc., if something is can't-miss.
Could ask her myself, but I'd like to try getting this organized without involving her.
Suggestions?

Absolutely.
If you want to stay in Somerville, check out La Brasa or their sister restaurant Fat Hen
Little Donkey is also a great spot on that side of the river (in Cambridge)
Two other great options in Cambridge are Puritan & Co. and Kirkland Tap and Trotter
But if you're interested/willing to go into Boston, you can take the T to Downtown Crossing and go to Yvonne's, which is one of my favorites. I've sent a lot of people from TD to Yvonne's (which makes me wonder why I'm not getting a commission, now that I think about it) and I've yet to see anyone here not enjoy it.
There are certainly lots of other options, but those are all places where you won't go wrong (in my opinion).

Awesome - thanks. I've done Kirkland Tap a couple times since that's right by mom's house. Would love to eat at La Brasa sometime, but think we just chose Alden and Harlow. Have heard good things. You been?

Alden and Harlow is one that I forgot to mention.
We've only been one time, and I have to say it was a really poor experience. There seemed to be trouble in the kitchen because there were plumes of smoke throughout the restaurant, the food came out extremely sporadically and was fairly forgettable. That was our one time going, so it's the only personal experience I can give you.
However, that being said, they are consistently ranked as one of the best restaurants in the city, are highly praised by everyone we know that has been, and gets nothing but glowing recommendations. So I suspect we just got very unlucky and went on an off night. We have actually said many times that we really want to go back and give them a second shot.

Sorry to hear about that experience. Hope we have a good one.
I'm familiar with breweries around Boston, but any craft beer and/or cocktail bars in the immediate area you'd recommend afterwards?

You'll only be a mile or so away from Union Square. There's a brand new brewery in Bow Market there that's doing some good stuff called Remnant. Worth checking out. Then you could walk maybe 5 minutes to Backbar, which arguably has the best cocktails in the city.
Then there's Aeronaut, which I'm sure you already know about because it's not too far from your mom's place.
And this isn't really nearby, but if you go out to Cambridge at any point you should go to Lamplighter. I'd argue it's the most underrated brewery in the city.

Will definitely check out Remnant and backbar - thanks!
Have been to Aeronaut a couple times Cool space, solid beer.
Went to Lamplighter for the first time last fall. Was really crowded, but also right after work, which doesn't help.

If you come to Aeronaut and I'm working, I'll buy you a beer! I'm the blonde with the Louisiana drawl...I stand out amongst my coworkers

Flying back from Boston now and giving another thumbs up for Yvonne’s.

The fam and I will be in Boston 2 weeks from now. How difficult is it to park around Fenway before a game?
Posted on 6/10/19 at 10:01 pm to TrapperJohn
Do not, I repeat, do not drive to Fenway. If you have a car, leave it at the hotel and take the t. Or take an Uber or Lyft.
Posted on 6/10/19 at 10:06 pm to AbitaFan08
We're staying in North Quincy. Is it possible to find a parking spot near the T?

For sure. There’s parking lots at north Quincy and Quincy Adams. Park there, take the red line to park street, and then the green line to Kenmore.
I promise you that’s a faster, easier, and cheaper method than trying to drive and park at Fenway on gameday.
As a general rule, I advise that people who aren’t familiar with Boston not drive at all unless it’s absolutely necessary. Traffic can be bad and drivers here are aggressive. Not to mention the hassle and expense of parking.

Happy to help.
Is there a reason you’ll have a car? Just curious if you’re renting one for just Boston or if it’s a road trip situation
