road trip situation
Driving from Lake Charles Louisiana and stopping for
3 days at Williamsburg
3 days at D.C

3 days at Boston
2 days at Salem
heading home after that.
...and I'm bringing 5 of my six kids (God help me).

Salem is great and I love that little town, but I'd be hard pressed to find enough to entertain myself for 2 entire days. We take the train in sometimes for a day but that's it.
There's a brewery (Notch), Bit Bar is fun. Some cool history, like Proctor's Ledge, which is the alleged site of the hangings (I stood on it a couple of times but last time I was in Salem, it was kind of blocked off ) and a few old cemeteries. We don't have kids, though, so our idea of a good time might be different.
Honestly, the places geared towards kids are SUPER cheesy and everything charges an entry fee...not like Boston where everything is just on the street and accessible.
Definitely worth checking out because it's a quaint, pretty little town on the water with a lot of charm...two days is pushing it, though.

Honestly, I'll be using one of those days just to rest. This trip has a TON of driving/walking involved and a wasted day would be welcomed by that point.

Enjoy your day off
Plenty of good places to eat there and it's super walkable. It's a great place to regroup.
Safe travels and enjoy your trip! This part of the country is wonderful.

Hey guys I fly into Boston at noon on Monday. Wanted to possibly get a round n about 2pm. I'm staying in the city on Albany st. Was going to drop my bags off and head out. Was looking into playing a nice course that has nice rental clubs if possible.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sorry I'm just seeing this so hopefully it's not too late (probably is), but check out Granite Links. It's pricey at about $150 before club rentals and all, but it's a really nice course. And golf is very expensive up here, cheapest you're going to find will be around $70.
You could also look at George Wright, which would be about $75. Not sure what their club rental situation is, but they should be able to help you out if you give them a call.

Is it no longer on the main sticky thread?

It is within the lone sticky...but it deserves its own sticky

Nice! I played George Wright last Sunday for the first time and it’s definitely a test, but well maintained and in great shape for the price.
Unfortunately I think it’s supposed to rain here the next couple days.

Yea I'm in a conference for 3 days so I flew up early. Checking out the Lions tail pretty nice spot. I'm staying in the area.
Wife flys up on Thursday night. Going to Fenway Friday and Saturday night.
Last time we were here we did Freedom Trail, Ben Franklin "grave site" Boston Tea Party spot Fenn. Hall.
We really enjoyed to hop on hop off bus. She's pretty preggo, any other things we should do in the little time she has here. Probably wont do as much walking as the last time.
Thx!

Oh nice - Lions Tail is a good spot. You’re not too far from me. I do my grocery shopping at that Whole Foods.
Honestly, if you’re looking to do something but not do a lot of walking, maybe look into a whale watch tour (assuming weather permits). And also assuming she won’t get sea sick.

Headed up to Boston on August 1st for Devil Rays vs Red Sox game (Section 25-Good Seats?), then onto Saratoga to sell our Tapit colt at Saratoga Select.
Any good hotels near Fenway (walking distance to the game) and any game day experiences near we show know about (batting practice, local food joints, etc..)....
Thanks in advance...

Most hotels are easily accessible via the T from wherever you stay especially from the green line to get to Fenway.
For batting practice tour, tickets go on sale the day of the game outside the stadium around 8:00 I believe. You meet in the gift shop across from the stadium at whatever time they tell you. From there you walk over to Fenway and go on the field for BP and eventually up to the Green Monster for BP.

Hey bud, I'll be in Boston the first week of September for a family party thurs-sun. Staying in Andover. Any place worth eating in Andover or are we better off driving into the city?
I will hit Trillium and Treehouse for sure. Thinking about driving out to Treehouse when we land Thursday morning, does TH have food or is there anything nearby worth eating?
Going to the Red Sox/Yankees game Sunday night. Have to go to Salem/Lowell at least one day (family cemetery).
Really just looking for a dinner rec for Thursday night (money not really a problem as long as its $150pp or less), brunch/lunch rec for Sunday. :cheers
I do have some placec reserved for Thursday, Table/Row34/union oyster house so we have options

If you have reservations at Table for Thursday, you're all set. That would easily be my recommendation.
Depending on the day of the week, there may be a food truck at Tree House. I'd recommend following them on Instagram or Twitter and keeping an eye on that. But you can also bring food in with you if you prefer.
I honestly don't get out to Andover much, so I don't think I'll be of much help there.
