Probably a good call. Tree House is way the hell out there in the middle of nowhere, so you're going to eat up a good portion of your day just going out there. And you can only have a max of two pours on site.

Edit: I noticed you mentioned having a reservation for Thursday at Union Oyster House. I'd recommend canceling that. More of a tourist trap than anything else.

9/5-9/9? If so we should catch a brew.

Abita thanks for the heads up on Union, the wife made some random bookings that I haven't fully vetted.

Neptune Oyster and Waypoint were two others I think she has booked

Copley Square is a good area to be in. Never actually been inside the hotel but I wouldn’t worry about it I’m sure it will be great.

As for Gillette, I just want to make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. Foxboro is about 40 minutes away, and on gameday it’s a lot longer due to traffic. You'll either have to rent a car or get a train ticket (I'd advise the train, but fair warning that it's going to be packed to the gills).

And tickets are very expensive.

Also, if you’re a baller, spend the money on suite tickets because it’s going to be cold as hell in Gillette in December.

Thanks Abita!!

Yeah I already bought tickets for the game . It's December 8th against the Chiefs. Since its a replay of last year's afc championship it should be a great one to be at. I am sure being from Louisiana I will freeze my sack off but the wife and I will bundle up. We looked into possibly taking the "patriot train " ..not sure if that was the only option or what. Would like to avoid renting a car if at all possible. Hopefully we have easy "T" access near our hotel for other things we'd like to do for our weekend stay. So far we are wanting to do a "hop on hop off tour, Skywalk observatory, and probably a tour of Fenway. I'd really like to get a good lobster roll from somewhere.

Any additional input would be appreciated. Thanks

Sitting in Logan about to fly out. Busy trip with client stuff. Sorry missed out on a beer.

Great great experience in Fenway. Went in the sixth inning after enjoyable drinks and dinner at Porto.

Scalped a ticket. They were trying to get $30. I held firm at $20 for a minute. Ended up flipping a quarter for either $20 or $40. He grumbled a bit about me catching the quarter but was okay with $20 when I won. Paid him $25 because I thought that was fair. Second row behind the first base on deck circle.

Sale was incredible. Crowd was great. Had been 20 years since I was in the park. It looked great. Really great. And to think they were talking about tearing it down 20 years ago!

Looks like we just missed each other at Logan too. I’m on my way to Terminal A now.

If you do go to Tree House you can head to BTs smokehouse to eat. It’s byob so go to the brewery and then bring your beers to the restaurant. Really good bbq, considering where you are.

Made it to Concord after driving through pouring rain between Rochester and Syracuse, noticed a few things on the 6.5 hr drive over.

1. Cops galore on the Mass Turnpike. Probably every 5 miles or so they had someone pulled over. Watch your speed folks.

2. Construction- I see where your tax dollars are going and the parts they're repaving on 90/290/495 are very nice. That 20mph curve though from N290 to N495, does that back up every day? Seems like it'd be terrible in rush hour

3. Drivers- Lot of people driving with their high beams on here at night. Not sure if it's just because I was in a rental car vs the truck at home, but it hurt

4. Residence Inn Concord- This is by far the nicest Residence Inn I've ever stayed at. It's Westin-esque, happy I'm in this hotel until Thursday

I'm scheduled for dinner with a friend tomorrow and golf friday before driving back, but up for dinner or a beer Wed or Thursday if you're around?

The Pike definitely has more cops on it than anywhere else in MA. If you're in the city, you never see speed traps, but the second you leave on the Pike they start popping up.

As you know, there are two seasons here: winter and construction. We're still in the latter. But yes, it's good to at least see where my tax dollars are going (unlike in LA).

Glad you've got a good hotel. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll take a look at my schedule!

Saw the other thread and wanted to say congrats on the new job. Good for you. Staying in Boston I assume? Had a great visit to Brookline when I was there a couple of months ago.

my daughter got accepted to northeastern for grad school, she will be in boston for 5 years. she found a studio she likes in allston on commonwealth ave close to the MBTA allston stop, $1475/mo (yikes).

anyone know the allston area? i see its close to harvard so i assume a lot of students around. what about getting to NE from there on the train?

any advice appreciated

That's honestly not a bad price. Allston is a nice area, lots of younger couples and college students for the most part.

Depending on where she's located she may be able to take the T, but likely will need to take a bus. FYI - if you go to Google Maps, you can input her address and directions to Northeastern, then click on the little image of a train. That will give you all the public transit options, including commuter rail, T, and bus routes.
