Having not been in 14 years, it was interesting to see how disneyworld used to have so many unique storylines and concepts, and now have made most of their new attractions mirror all their movies.

I kinda liked it the old way.

None the less it was still a good trip.

They are adding even more intellectual property rides in the push to the 2021 anniversary. Tron in MK, star wars and toy story lands in Hollywood Studios, Guardians of the galaxy, inside out, and ratatoulli in Epcot.

SO many adults and kids today don't really know the old story lines and concepts and they have to keep current I guess. I am like you,I still remember the old originals :).

Eh. It's gone both ways for a while. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? Movie first. Splash Mountain? Movie first. Peter Pan's Flight... Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...

And then there were the originals: Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, etc.

It allows them to have a subpar ride still stay busy. Peter Pan as a ride sucks basically, but it slammed because its Peter Pan.

Wasn't pretty much everything Disney adapted from earlier stories?

it does boggle my mind how the Peter Pan ride is never less than a 60 minute wait at any point during the day.

Disney still does something original every now and then, but they are going through a major refurb at the parks and bringing in a lot of their new IP. They spent a lot of money to get some of these new IP, so I can't say I blame them for pushing them.

quote:

It loads two people at a time very slowly. Contrasted with “it’s a small world” that loads tons of people very quickly. The Disney nerds compare every ride’s loading capabilities.

Plus it's an extremely popular ride, so people will wait in the line for longer (making the line longer by not skipping it) especially since they made the line interactive.

Sad to lose the oldies but goodies but necessary to keep the masses (kids) engaged and happy for Disney bottom line.

Hollywood Studios was lacking last time I went so adding Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land will increase attendance exponentially.

Animal Kingdom was getting stale as well, adding Pandora spices it up.

Tommorowland is badly outdated so adding a Tron ride might help. Space Mountain is a rough roller coaster ride compared to the modern ones like Everest and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train that are much smoother.

Just as long as they don't drop Living with the Land. That one holds a lot of nostalgia for me for some reason.
