Ski trip for 3?

Did Keystone as first timers and while it was great, I found that they didn't have enough beginner slopes. Curious as to what others say as well.

I would look at the resorts around Salt Lake City. Proximity to the airport can't be beat.

I'd probably go with this, either park city or snowbird. I think i remember snowbird having some tough terrain, but also some very long greens and blue/greens good for beginners.

Another option is the northeast such as new hampshire, vermont or maine. Fly into boston and drive a few hours. For a beginner, it's not necessarily worth it to spend a ton of money on lift tickets and ski school when you can do it for half the price in the northeast. Only issue is hoping for snow instead of ice although they can still make snow

I'd say Copper mountain if you and looking for the most beginner terrain. Although with being limited to 3 days maybe consider Park City in Utah as it is close enough to the airport to cut travel time to a minimum. Either one of these would be my suggestion.

My first trip was to Winter Park. I was a freshman in high school and they had plenty of slopes from green and bunny up to double black diamond. Would recommend

Small and flat, but I love this mountain. We attract a mellow crowd. Lotta locals that just love skiing trees in deep, light pow. We don't have to be skiing the steepest terrain at all times. So we aren't filled to the brim with hard-charger local guys, like Jackson Hole or Vail.

For intermediate skiers comfortable on blues, Sunshine/Sundown is a paradise of groomed, rolling runs. Tomahawk rollers are so much fun, dip left to Baby Powder about halfway down, then zip on back down the rest of Tomahawk. The classic Steamboat line that I will happily spend my day lapping if I have friends in town that wanna keep it mellow.

This is just me being stoned, and rambling about Steamboat.

As to the poster above on dates and crowds, we really don't have much choice between our respective calendars.

There's a few shacks around the mountain. I know of two right outside the side country gates past the rope.

If ya book for Steamboat, shoot me an email. My username at gmail. I work for Ski Butlers in the winter. We are a rental delivery service. We do the boot fitting and everything at your lodging property. Also we meet you at the base of the mountain if ya need to swap boots, or replace broken poles, etc.

If you guys are only going to ski and not snowboard for 3 days with a young first time skier, fly to SLC, shuttle to Deer Valley, sign the 11 year old into a 4-person lesson, and have amazing skiing, great food, low crowds and no travel headaches. It's the perfect set-up for what you describe. They have tons of groomed slopes for you and the wife as well.
