Looking at rental cars for a Montana trip this summer and prices are high. Any thoughts on when they may come down? Or booking options? I have been looking on Expedia, Costco, etc…are there better options ?

Are you looking at renting in a vacation destination like Bozeman during summer which is their peak? Always going to be high. Need more info.

Do some googling and find the state of Louisiana Enterprise corporate code. I used it in Bozeman and saved close to $1k on a suburban for 5 days.

Costco has always been the cheapest for me. Plus you don’t have to pay in advance. So book one now and check back weekly, then rebook if it’s lower.

I flew into Bozeman last year and rental cars were expensive and hard to get. I booked at the off-sight Enterprise in Bozeman and took an uber both ways with the family. I saved about $600 doing that, and they upgraded me into a Yukon from a car for $100 more for 8 days.

I couldn't figure out why they were so expensive, when I flew in there was a field with 100+ tahoes and expeditions sitting at the airport. I guess they pull those out of the inventory until ski season?

Had a similar example a few years ago in Anchorage, Alaska. Rental cars at the airport were through the roof. Rented from their downtown location and it was HALF of what they wanted to charge at the airport. Funny thing was I had to ride with the manager of the downtown site to the airport to get our vehicle anyway, because they were out of SUVs downtown ... Hotel also had a shuttle so we had free transport from the airport to the hotel when we arrived, just had to get to that downtown location the next morning.

I'd also add, with Enterprise I book a reservation as soon as I have my details finalized. Then, I price it habitually after. If the price drops, you book a fresh reservation and cancel your original.

Just booked Turo for the first time. Pickup BOI drop off GEG. All I had to do was message the owner to ask if he would accomodate. He added a few hundred dollars and I got a mid-size SUV for 7 days @ $1400. Cheapest online rental was @ $3500. If this works seamlessly, I will never rent from another site.

When the companies rebuild their fleets.

I haven't had a rental car with less than 35,000 miles on it since summer 2020.

I've rented 3x since that time period. Only once did we get a vehicle that may have been on its last leg....

I think the city you rent in along with the location (airport, rural, etc) plays huge factors into what type of vehicle or the amount of vehicles available.

Yep, just be warned that they occasionally ask for proof of employment when checking out.

It's a great way to save some $$$ though, I have a one way, 5 day rental from Nashville to Asheville coming up and with my Corporate Code it's only $200
