MSY to LHR is a 9 hour direct flight on British Airways. Then connecting flight to wherever. Business class has seats that lay flat. Leaves around 9 pm and lands around noon. Eat a meal on the flight then sleep the rest. Wake up ready to go.

Yep. But it’s high priced compared to IAH.

I work in both and go IAH whenever possible. Better planes, too.

Also, he would still have to connect to Germany.

Any recomendations on booking stuff or where some good places to stay are? I'm looking to do a trip for Oktoberfest in '26.

Should I go with Delta and Virgin with a layover in Atlanta or United and Lufthansa with a layover in Chicago?

Delta: Doesn't have First Class
Virgin: Doesn't have First Class
United: Doesn't have First Class
Lufthansa: Has First Class

As a big baller Lufthansa is the only option.

Air France probably has the best J and F cabins to Europe

First Class, yes. Business Class, no.

Also at least on most recent flight BA biz class on LHR-MSY route is the new biz class seats and arrangement. No more the weird backwards seats.

Spicy. Who you got?

I hesitate putting J but I haven't seen anyone really separate from the pack on any reviews I've read or experienced myself besides AF. I ruled out connecting Turkish (edge case), Qatar etc as not to Europe/European airlines.

BA
Iberia
AF
Lufthansa
KLM
Swiss - I enjoyed this one

Not sure who I'm missing that isn't Austria/Brussels etc that don't seem to compete at this level.

I’m interested in H2O’s answer as well. The new Air France business class seats are great… the older ones are still around, though, which not only look old but really feel old

Ya every airline has old seats running amok somewhere but AF's newer J plus their onboard service is supposedly top notch for a European carrier (I can't say for sure since I haven't flown them all).

I haven't seen this stance overly debated but everyone gets an opinion. In my view I'm just happy to be there than in the back so my standards are quite low!

I've found that Air France service in biz is hit or miss. I've flown four long-haul segments in the past two years (twice with the 'new' seats). I actually felt like the service was better alongside the new hard product... perhaps a result of the flight attendants being more proud (?), who knows. My CDG-NRT filght being the best of the bunch from a service perspective.

It's still not up to the service levels of the Gulf carriers or East Asian carriers, but that's to be expected.

But I do enjoy the food and drink options on Air France. I continually find myself in the champagne-->bourdeaux-->armagnac cycle for each flight. It leaves me slightly hungover at my destination, but I can't seem to stop.

ETA - I have J flights coming up with Turkish and Virgin. I've never flown with them before, so I'm eager to compare against AF, KLM, LH and others.

So, business class. Just fly LH to MUC or FRA and have a tiny connecting flight. So much delta puffery on this board.

Was in AF biz class with new seat in a bulkhead few months ago and would be hard pressed, but happy to try, a better experience.

Avoid the TSA lines and cramped seats, just drive.

I didn't find SWISS's current seats to me comfortable at all, and the 2-2-1 layout in Business is woefully uncompetitive.

AF has a great new first class but that is on select planes and routes. The Non First-Class equipped 777s that serve New York but the four cabin planes are worn out.

Of the ones I've flown to date, here are my top 5 Business Class seats:
1. Qatar Airways A350 QSuite
2. Japan Airlines A350-1000
3. British Airways Boeing 777-300ER Club Suite
4. Emirates Boeing 777-300ER New Business Class
5. Etihad Boeing 787 Business Class

For Europe, few really separate themselves, I was supposed to fly Air France's A350-900 in Business earlier this year but they cancelled my flight and rebooked me on Emirates. Currently, based on what I've flown recently:
1. British Airways Boeing 777-300ER Club Suite
2. KLM Boeing 777-200 World Business Class
3. KLM Boeing 787 World Business Class (I've flown this way too many times)
4. Air France Boeing 777-300ER Business Class
5. SWISS Airbus A330 Business Class

Lufthansa has a new seat on the market now and SWISS will have theirs out before year end, both of which are compelling. Turkish only has good seats on the A350s it got from Aeroflot, otherwise their product is subpar.. Finnair has a unique, no-recline Business Class Seat that I've yet to try and ITA has gotten some decent reviews. There's still a lot out there I haven't tried but I can say AF is good but not great. They've also swapped planes on me multiple times in the past which is a risk you run.
